Beginning Promo
Why can't the main eventers have promos like this?! Kingston doesn't even have that great of mic skills, and he still was able to carry his own in this promo. That's saying something. It was way better than having the match being announced via the commentators, and this promo built hype for an amazing match that I will get to later. Hopefully we see one of these guys move to the main event soon with this type of skill. Big Show def. "Dashing" Cody Rhodes by Count-Out Exactly as it was expected. The match was boring, and it did nothing but once again show Big Show's dominance (example: CM Punk). This feud has not clicked since the start, and the count-out was at least better than Show pinning Rhodes. This does nothing for either man and was a complete waste of time. Time for Rhodes to move on to the Intercontinental Championship. Drew McIntyre def. Trent Barreta A good match while it lasted. I'm looking forward to a feud between the two, as long as McIntyre will not continue to crush Barreta like he did Matt Hardy a few months ago. This could be the year Trent Baretta finally breaks out into the mid-card, and this could be the feud to do it if done properly. Nasty spot by Baretta at the end, by the way. World Heavyweight Champion Edge and Rey Mysterio def. Kane and Alberto Del Rio Fun contest between the four top stars on Smackdown. These four competitors work very well together, as you saw the TLC pay-per-view. The match had great chemistry, and it had a suspenseful finish with the double team. It built good hype for next week's top matches, but is it really worth it to hold those on Smackdown? More on that below. Divas Champion Natayla and Beth Phoenix def. Lay-Cool Oddly enough, these four Divas had yet another great showing, similar to the Tables match atTLC. It was played out nicely, and was not wasted time of Lay-Cool dominating. With this loss, could the end of Lay-Cool be looming? Either way, the in-ring work of the Divas is really starting to pick up. And with the addition of Awesome Kong, things are really starting to heat up. New Year's Eve Party Eh, didn't really care for it. I know some people hate on the segments, but I'm in a good mood and going to spare its criticism. The fight was expected, and at least got Chavo on TV. Better than some other stuff we see these days. Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler def. Kofi Kingston and Jack Swagger Clearly Match of the Night, and no way better to end 2010 than with this match. All three men showed world championship-material work and were able to surpass the Ladder Match they all had at TLC. Not many matches make me get out of my seat and scream, but this match accomplished that. The finish was very well done, but I still think we should have seen a new champion. Ziggler has now beaten everyone there is to beat, so why does he need the IC Title? Time to move on in the new year, but for now it's fine. Overall, a hell of a match. Final Review Great episode to end 2010 on a good note. No pointless promos besides the party, and the matches, except for the first one, were pretty solid. What I don't understand is why they are giving away two perfectly good matches on television. The ratings will not improve because it's taped. Hopefully, we finally see the feuds end in the new year. Happy New Year, everyone! The Usos def. Yoshi Tatsu and Darren Young
A decent match, but not great. It was a good opener, mostly because everyone in the match had chemistry. The Usos were the main focus on this match, which is what I like seeing they have tremendous ability. As for Tatsu and Young, they are just lost on RAW. Tatsu has potential, but has no mic skills. Young is just not a good wrestler, but has charisma. Either way, The Usos winning was logical and good to build up to a tag team title feud with Santino and Kozlov down the road. William Regal def. David Hart Smith Match of the night by far, and definitely my favorite in the last couple of weeks. It is mainly due to me liking William Regal, but this was a very old-school contest. Regal rarely wrestles anymore, which annoys me, and when he does, it is a short contest where he cannot display his full potential in the ring. This match was the exception, making it a nice, long match with much suspense. It satisfies me to see Regal winning again, but why? Wouldn't they feel the need to put over Smith? Tyler Reks def. Chris Masters These two have fought numerous times before, so it was no surprise Reks would come out with the victory. Boring contest overall. The last part of the match is where the pace picked up, but that was about it. Unfortunately, I don't ever seeing either of these men getting off Superstars, despite my new interest in Tyler Reks. Final Review Enjoyable last episode of 2010. Superstarshas been decent that last few months, and I don't ever see it changing, that is if it's still around. This is better than most of the matches we've seen in the past, so keeping this format is suitable for me. Have a happy new year everyone! The Usos def. Yoshi Tatsu and Darren Young
