NXT UK Women's Champion Toni Storm def. Deonna PurrazzoThis was filmed during last year's Download Festival when Storm was still NXT UK Women's Champion. The timing of this airing is interesting because Purrazzo was just released from WWE two weeks ago. She was unfortunately underutilized during her time with NXT, but I was happy that she was able to showcase her skills here against one of NXT UK's finest (even though this was from a while ago). They had a fun match and the crowd was red hot for Storm throughout. Matt Riddle def. LigeroThis was from July 2019 before or after what I assume was an NXT UK TV taping. This crowd ate up everything Riddle did, which is likely due to how he was previously a regular in PROGRESS and was a huge fan favorite during his time on the U.K. wrestling scene. Both guys were babyfaces, but it was an entertaining encounter nonetheless and Ligero looked good in defeat. This was a fun clash of styles and I love how Riddle's arsenal is so deep that he can win with a variety of moves.

Isiah "Swerve" Scott def. El Hijo del Fantasma in an Interim NXT Cruiserweight Championship Tournament MatchI completely forgot until Scott mentioned it afterward that these two are Lucha Underground alumni. In fact, they actually faced off in that promotion at least one time from what I could gather. They had a really enjoyable match here and both guys had the chance to shine. Normally, I'd question Fantasma losing his second week in, but it was done in a way where he was protected in defeat. Plus, Scott needed the win after losing to Akira Tozawa two weeks ago. Candice LeRae def. Kacy CatanzaroLeRae getting new entrance music to match her new dark persona was a smart move, and I also like how Johnny Gargano is serving as her manager. We haven't seen a ton of Catanzaro on NXT TV lately, but I thought she had a solid showing here. It was a nice little match that successfully got LeRae over as a threat. I'm digging the duo of Gargano and LeRae and I think it has the potential to be the blast. On a side note, I'm looking forward to Gargano vs. Dominik Dijakovic next week.
Cody def. Darby allin in an AEW TNT Championship Tournament Semifinal MatchAre the opening matches Dynamite usually commercial free? This would have been an ideal time for that given what was at stake here. Either way, this was great as these two continue to work very well together. They made every minute matter and I loved the final stretch. I didn't mind the finish as it protected Allin in protect and he thought that the referee was counting Cody's shoulders, not his own. When Allin inevitably defeats Cody down the road, it's going to be a big moment. My only nitpick of this match is that it should have been the main event because the outcome was more in doubt than it was with Lance Archer vs. Dustin Rhodes. Wardlow def. MusaMusa was just seen on Tuesday's edition of AEW Dark teaming with Lee Johnson against Best Friends. Meanwhile, Wardlow has been getting plenty of television time lately with MJF sitting at home "injured" from his hangnail. He's been booked to look completely dominant and has been winning all of his matches in decisive fashion. As much as I miss seeing MJF in person on these shows, I can live with the short and sweet squashes from Wardlow.
#AskGSM Edition #335: Apollo Crews "Injured," Cain Velasquez Released, Drake Maverick, More4/29/2020 #AskGSM is a weekly Q&A video where I, Graham "GSM" Matthews, answer fan questions from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in regards to the world of wrestling. Nothing is off limits, and this week’s edition touches upon a variety of topics including:
Chris Bey def. Rohit Raju, Suicide and Trey in a Four-Way MatchAlthough nothing was up for grabs, this free-for-all was designed to showcase the stars of the X-Division and kick off the evening on a high note. There was total nonstop action (see what I did there?) and everyone looked good. The TNA: One Night Only event didn't happen over WrestleMania weekend as planned, but I assume Suicide will be around at least for a little bit. Bey was the right winner as he's the freshest face of the bunch. Joseph P. Ryan def. Cousin JakeIf there's any upside to this new gimmick for Joey Ryan, it's that he's not doing the dumb penis shtick for right now. I can't say this match did much for me personally, but it was decent. I just would have shaved off a few minutes because it felt overly long, but I understand they wanted to kill time. Ryan picking up the victory was the only outcome that made sense. I'm not sure what Ryan does now, however, especially if they have a limited roster to work with.
