Chris Bey def. Suicide

Bey has been doing some great work lately and this was another solid showing from him. It was a quality contest, but I question Johnny Swinger getting involved. Bey should have picked up the win on his own, especially considering it was against Suicide of all people. Thankfully, it was announced later on in the show that Swinger will be banned from ringside when Bey challenges Willie Mack for the Impact X-Division Championship at Slammiversary. I continue to hope their alliance will be short-lived.

TJP and Fallah Bahh def. Reno Scum

Reno Scum don't do much for me at all, so I was totally fine with this match not being overly long. Meanwhile, TJP and Bahh are a fun duo and managed to make this passable. They worked a chaotic pace and kept things interesting before the babyfaces scored the victory, which was the right call. As we learned later on in the show, TJP and Bahh won't be contending for the Impact World Tag Team Championship at Slammiversary, but I'm glad they're maintaining momentum in the meantime.

Shawn Spears def. Max Caster

I realize he didn't use it to win here (nor should he have because Caster is a no-namer), but it'd be nice if AEW bothered to explain the significance of the glove Spears has been wearing during his matches lately. Tully Blanchard is clearly giving him something to fill it with when the referee isn't looking, but that's about it. It's encouraging that Spears is picking up more wins, but until he starts beating more important people, I'm not sure many viewers will care (especially after all the bad booking he's endured up to this point).

Lance Archer def. Pineapple Pete

Archer squashes are always fun, but this really should not have lasted as long as it did. I know Pineapple Pete has been all over AEW programming for several months now, but Archer should have come across as more dominant than he did. Joey Janela got in the ring afterward to fend off Archer as they'll be going one-on-one next week at Fyter Fest. If we're lucky, it will be over quickly and decisively.

Bianca Belair def. Billie Kay

Peyton Royce was in action on Raw this week beating Ruby Riott, so I was surprised to see The IIconics pop up on Main Event as well. On the bright side, Belair didn't face Riott again. Unfortunately, their matches were far better than this. Kay just isn't that good, and although Belair tried, this was a fairly mediocre match. Belair remains undefeated since getting called up to the Raw roster, but it doesn't mean anything if she's never on TV.

Overall Show

Belair vs. Kay was the only original match featured this week, probably because the Raw taping was condensed due to the company having a limited number of talent to work with. Last week's Undertaker tribute video, among other replays from Raw and SmackDown, aired instead. Belair has usually been fun to watch on Main Event in recent months, but her outing against Kay on this show isn't worth your time. This edition of Main Event is an easy pass.

The Contract Signings with Raw Women's Champion Asuka, WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Sasha Banks, WWE Champion Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler Descended Into Chaos

I can't say I was overly anticipating the two contract signings coming into this show, so I was glad they were combined into one segment and that they kicked off the show so WWE could get them out of the way early. The brawl between the women was also a hot way to open the episode, so I appreciated that they tried to switch things up from the usual boring concept. The actual mic work from Ziggler, McIntyre, Asuka and Banks wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but it served its purpose in setting up the night's mixed tag team main event.

Andrade and Angel Garza def. The Viking Raiders

Andrade and Garza went back and forth with Big Show on the mic beforehand, which led to them facing off in a Handicap match later in the night. Ric Flair's involvement in the segment was completely pointless, especially when you consider that many people have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 in WWE and it isn't safe for Flair to be in that building. On the bright side, Viking Raiders had an entertaining outing with Andrade and Garza, and with the heels picking up the victory, I assume they're next in line for a shot at the Raw Tag Team Championship.
