By Graham "GSM" Matthews Batista Addressed the WWE Universe The boos Batista has been getting since the Royal Rumble have been simply undeniable, so it was smart to turn him heel as soon as possible. That being said, he works so much better as a heel. He cut a hysterical and truthful yet rambling promo on the WWE Universe and turned anyone else still cheering him against him. He also clearly stated his intentions to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 30 regardless of whether the fans are behind him or not. Dolph Ziggler's interruption was a pleasant surprise, as it was the first time he has been involved in anything notable in months. It also set up his match with Batista later in the night nicely. The Real Americans def. Intercontinental Champion Big E and Mark Henry The match made sense on paper given The Real Americans' recent clashes with Big E and Big E's partnership with Henry. The execution of the match left something to be desired, but the main focus was on the tension teased between The Real Americans. A split between the two is ultimately inevitable at this point, and I see Cesaro being the one going babyface. The Neutralizer on Henry was extremely impressive as well. The only issue I had with this match was how Big E and Henry were overshadowed, but at least Big E didn't take the pinfall loss for this team.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews The Contract for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match at Lockdown Was Signed MVP has been doing really well in his role as the Investor these last few weeks, while Magnus and Samoa Joe were very good here as well. They had an enjoyable exchange and built their matchup nicely, though it would have been nice if they mentioned their storied past. That aside, Joe beating up on Magnus here left viewers wanting to see him completely annhilate him at Lockdown. Wasn't this segment so much better without Dixie Carter involved? The Bro-Mans def. Bad Influence and TNA World Tag Team Champions The Wolves in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match to Qualify for Team Roode (Non-title) I assume the entrances of the wrestlers were cut since The Bro-Mans are no longer tag team champions after the straps changed hands at a recent house show, but that was only a small gripe. The match itself was actually entertaining since it was mostly Bad Influence and The Wolves doing all of the work, having a much better match than they did last week. That being said, it was pretty obvious from the get-go that The Bro-Mans would win, but at least the match was fun to watch. The Bro-Mans being added to Team Roode was logical given their ties to Dixie Carter, so no complaints there. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Kofi Kingston def. Damien Sandow Neither of these guys mean anything at the moment, but disregarding that, they are still very capable of having good matches together. The Green Bay live crowd was seemingly split between Kingston and Sandow with chants for both Superstars, which was interesting. The fact this match lasted only a few minutes was rather disappointing, especially considering this is an hour-long show that mostly consists of Raw recaps. Kingston's post-match interview with Jerry Lawler was odd, as you don't normally see that type of thing on WWE Superstars, but I guess it was a nice change of pace. I heard from a few people saying that they showed parts of this match (and potentially spoiled the finish) during the pre-show before Raw this week, which is strange (I didn't tune in so I wouldn't know). Hopefully they don't do that every week going forward. Cody Rhodes, Goldust and Los Matadores def. Curtis Axel, Ryback and 3MB This was essentially the same exact match we saw on WWE Main Event this week, the only difference is that El Torito and Heath Slater weren't involved here. That being said, I actually found this match more enjoyable that the one from Main Event, but that might have been due to the hot crowd. The Rhodes brothers were the sole highlight in my opinion, but everyone else also played their role well. I will never get tired of seeing Cody execute his Cross Rhodes finisher, as it is so cool looking and effective at the same time. Wait, why are they wrestling on WWE Superstars again? By Graham "GSM" Matthews Cesaro def. Sami Zayn Did anyone honestly expect this match to be anything less than spectacular? They set the standards quite high with their 2-out-of-3 Falls match last August, but they managed to have just as great (if not better) of a match here. The action was extremely exciting and these two proved once again that they chemistry is some of the best of anyone else on the roster today. The finishing sequence was fantastic and I was genuinely surprised to see Cesaro go over. I was hoping for Zayn to win, but he looked super strong in defeat and wasn't damaged at all. The post-match hug between the two was a very nice tough and planted the seeds for an eventual face turn for Cesaro. Mojo Rawley def. CJ Parker Both competitors are still very green in the ring, so I questioned the move to put them against each other, it was a relatively quick match that didn't overstay its welcome. Parker didn't show any character development after turning heel a few weeks ago, but he didn't need to. It was all about Rawley for the most part and it was nice to see him emerge victorious. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Cody Rhodes, Goldust and Los Matadores def. Curtis Axel, Ryback and 3MB Multi-man matches can usually be a train wreck, but this match was surprisingly painless. I couldn't care less about anyone involved in the match except for the Rhodes brothers (what did they ever do to deserve this treatment?!), but the action was decent while it lasted. The finishing sequence was fun and I didn't at all having a problem with Heath Slater getting pinned by El Torito since Slater is enhancement talent anyway, so does it matter? Aksana and Alicia Fox def. Natalya and Eva Marie I have three burning questions coming out of this match. First, why was Eva Marie a face after wrestling as a heel last week? Granted, it was on WWE Superstars (a show almost no one watches), but still, character consistency is key. Second, why in the hell would Natalya take the pin and not Eva? Third, why is Aksana winning matches despite badly injuring one of the top faces in the Divas division in Naomi? What an absolute mess this all was. |
