By Graham "GSM" Matthews Cesaro def. Jack Swagger Cesaro and Swagger have very good matches whenever they clash and this was no different. There wasn't much storyline support behind this bout, but having history with each other certainly helped. They were given an ample amount of time and they made the most of it with their excellent chemistry. Cesaro needs wins more than Swagger does right now, but I'd like to see both guys involved in something of note sooner rather than later. They're both too talented to be put to waste. Tyson Kidd def. Kofi Kingston Words can't describe how excited I am to finally see Kidd being utilized on the main roster. He's been overlooked for far too long and it's about time he got his due. I'm glad to see him in the ring and not just as a manger for Natalya and/or Rosa Mendes. He's been doing the best work of his career on NXT as of late and I hope that success translates to the main roster. As expected, he and Kingston worked a fun match given their similar styles. I was pleasantly surprised to see Kidd win clean as I figured Kingston would go over. Could Kidd finally be getting his long awaited push as a singles competitor?

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Paul Heyman Interrupted The Authority We went a few weeks without The Authority opening the show. It was fun while it lasted. The segment didn't accomplish much outside of serving as a logical followup to Dean Ambrose stealing Seth Rollins' Money in the Bank briefcase on SmackDown. Rollins also explained why he chose to cash in on Brock Lesnar, but aside from that, Paul Heyman's involvement here wasn't needed. A match wasn't even announced for later in the night. It was a fine segment, but it didn't need to go as long as it did. Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler def. Cesaro and The Miz in a Triple Threat Match The match had a lot of potential on paper to be great and it ultimately delivered. Ziggler and Miz have been having awesome (no pun intended) matches in recent months and throwing Cesaro into the mix only made it better. The action was entertaining and fast-paced and all three guys held their own against each other. The finish was also well done in that it protects Cesaro and keeps his feud with Ziggler over the title alive. By Greg Lowenthal Hey guys... Welcome to the Lowdown for this week. (On a personal note, it's my birthday today so I'm happy about that.) So it would appear that Raw last week proved nothing short of spectacular as Dean Ambrose and John Cena found an unlikely common enemy.... so my focus this week will be on this sudden new development. So it seems that Cena and Ambrose found an unlikely new commonality.... Seth Rollins. Not only did he put Ambrose out of action for a while (as a kayfabe move to allow him to film a new WWE movie) but he also cost Cena the WWE World Championship belt at Night of Champions. Could we be seeing a new tag team in the near future? My hope is yes. Here are my reasons why. Cena brings a lot of energy and focus. He knows what he wants and has proven that in times of personal crisis, he's capable of going to lengths that no one usually sees in the Cenation leader. Plus, he's well rounded in his moves, able to use powerhouse and technical moves to defeat opponents. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Dean Ambrose def. The Miz I enjoyed their interaction on Main Event this week and was excited to see them face off for the first time on this show. They work well together and I'd love to see them have more matches against each other in the future. The finish with Ambrose reversing the Skull Crushing Finale into the Dirty Deeds was well done and it was a nice win for Ambrose. Ambrose and Seth Rollins could have a hell of a Hell in a Cell match if that's the direction they're headed in. Cesaro Won a No. 1 Contender's Battle Royal for the Intercontinental Championship Every Battle Royal is mostly the same, especially when a majority of the contestants consist of enhancement talent. Nevertheless, it was fun at points and the final four was pleasnatly surprising. All of them had an equal chance of coming out on top and Cesaro was the right choice in the end. The visual of him tossing Kofi Kingston into Jack Swagger over the top rope was a sweet one and it put him over in strong fashion. Is Cesaro's feud with Sheamus already over? |
