Blake Monroe def. Jaida Parker in a Street FightI enjoyed this more than Monroe's Weaponized Steel Cage match with Jordynne Grace at No Mercy back in September. The crowd at the Performance Center made for a fun atmosphere and there were enough "hardcore" spots to make the stipulation worthwhile. This was a necessary victory for Monroe, who hasn't much of anything since losing the NXT Women's North American Championship, but I'm sure the feud will continue and Parker will get her win back eventually.

Oba Femi def. Ricky Saints to Win the NXT ChampionshipI actually enjoyed this more than their original encounter at No Mercy, which may not be too surprising given this had higher stakes with the winner advancing to Saturday Night's Main Event to face Cody Rhodes in a non-title match. I thought Starks was retaining for that exact reason, so Femi getting the belt back was a genuine shocker. This was a strong start to the show. If I was booking, I'd have Femi beat Rhodes clean, but I'm well aware that's not going to happen.
TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater and Je'Von Evans def. Mr. Iguana and La ParkaAs a match that didn't matter from a storyline standpoint (it was only just announced on NXT a few days ago) but was always going to be enjoyable from an in-ring standpoint, it was smart to have this serve as the opener. The crowd was into this and all four guys delivered. I still want Slater vs. Evans one-on-one again at some point, but I'm down for them teaming in the meantime.
Je'Von Evans def. Josh BriggsWhat a 24 hours for Evans. He took Sami Zayn to the limit in a super fun match for the United States Championship on SmackDown and then picked up a win over Briggs to kick off this show. It was your average opener and told a similar story to Evans' match with Jasper Troy from The Great American Bash, but Evans shined on offense per usual. It was announced during Victory Road on Friday night that Evans will challenge Leon Slater for the TNA X-Division Championship at Bound for Glory, so he had to win here.
Lola Vice def. Jaida Parker and Kelani Jordan in an NXT Women's Championship No. 1 Contender's Triple Threat MatchAlthough this could've happened on any ordinary edition of NXT, it was still a good, well-worked Triple Threat and having something at stake obviously helped. It also helped that the outcome felt genuinely unpredictable. While I would have preferred either Parker or Jordan going over, Vice vs. Jacy Jane is a fresh match as well, though I don't see Vice winning the NXT Women's Championship from her.
