NXT North American Champion Tony D'Angelo def. Oba Femi in a Tables, Ladders and Scares MatchI didn't really think about it until someone brought it up to me recently, but WWE hasn't done a TLC match on the main roster since the TLC pay-per-view was still around four years ago. However, there's been a few of these Tables, Ladders and Scares (TLS for short) matches in NXT since then and this was a good one with both men making the most of the stipulation. Why not have the belt hang from the ceiling like it does in a TLC matchup? That would've prevented Femi from eating the clean pinfall loss, but at least it was a nice endorsement of D'Angelo.

Nathan Frazer and Axiom def. Chase U (Andre Chase and Ridge Holland) to Win the NXT Tag Team ChampionshipWhile I enjoyed the first two matches in the series between these teams slightly more, this was still a strong opener. Frazer and Axiom have developed fantastic chemistry as partners this year and Chase U are always able to get the crowd behind them. Despite the babyface vs. babyface dynamic, the fans in attendance were into the action. The title change was a surprise because Chase U's tag title reign was also brief. Holland's heel turn has been in the works for a while and it came off well afterward.
Pre-Show: Karmen Petrovic and Arianna Grace def. Jacy Jane and Jazmyn NyxWhen this was announced earlier this week on NXT, I wasn't sure if it was slated for the pre-show or not, but I'm glad it was because it was easily the weakest match of the night. That isn't to say it was terrible, but it felt like something you'd see on Level Up or any ordinary edition of NXT TV. What we got was decent, but keeping it on the shorter side was smart. Petrovic and Grace aren't regular partners, but it was cool that they got their moment in their native Canada.
Kelani Jordan def. Fallon Henley, Jaida Parker, Michin, Sol Ruca and Lash Legend in a Ladder Match to Become the Inaugural NXT Women's North American ChampionI'm numb to Ladder matches at this point because we see so many of them in wrestling nowadays, but this was a good one and the women worked hard. It was certainly a risk with so many of these competitors being inexperienced, but there weren't any obvious issues with it and there were some cool (but nothing too crazy) spots. Henley was my pick to win, but I can't complain about it being Jordan instead. She's been very impressive since debuting and has a bright future ahead of her.
Pre-Show: Joe Gacy def. Shawn SpearsThe "Kickoff" shows are apparently now known as "Countdown" shows, but I'll refer to them as the pre-show in my reviews for the sake of clarity. Anyway, this match was just added to the card on Tuesday's NXT. They've been feuding for a few weeks and I don't know why. Hey, this got them on the card in front of a capacity crowd, so there was that. This was solid albeit unspectacular. Spears was made to look like a total loser by being beaten by a guy who was attacked by Ridge Holland with a chair beforehand.
