By Graham "GSM" Matthews #AskGSM is a weekly Q&A video where I, Graham "GSM" Matthews, answer fan questions from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in regards to the world of wrestling. Nothing is off limits, and this week’s edition touches upon a variety of topics including:

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Mark Briscoe def. Donovan Dijak There wasn't much riding on this match other than it was Dijak who attacked Briscoe after their tag team match a few weeks ago, but I liked how they incorporated the plug for Destination America and I'm hoping they make their next set of shows on the network feel special. It was a decent match for what it was worth and although didn't light the world on fire, it was perfect in the opener because it was easily the least important match of the night. The Decade def. Matt Sydal and ACH I was really impressed with the duo of Sydal and ACH when they teamed up on this past week's edition of Ring of Honor, so I enjoyed seeing them back in action on this show. They didn't have any established issues going into the match (or at least any that were made clear on the Destination America shows), so similar to the previous bout, it was difficult to care about who would win. That said, Colby Corino playing into the finish was interesting and we'll see where it leads, but you'd think they would've given the victory to the babyfaces to set them up as the next No. 1 contenders to the ROH tag titles. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Cesaro def. Bo Dallas I don't know about anyone else, but I was rather disappointed we didn't get to hear from Dallas on the mic before the match. I don't care for his in-ring ability too much, but his promos entertain me. Meanwhile, I'm glad to see Cesaro back in singles competition after being off programming for a few weeks, and I'm hoping this was a rest run for him on his own. He's too talented to be set aside on Superstars and he has a bright future as a singles guy if they chose to give him the push he deserves. The match was actually enjoyable and I got a kick out of Dallas' mannerisms. Cesaro's small tribute to Tyson Kidd at the end by winning with the Sharpshooter was a nice touch. Luke Harper and Erick Rowan def. The Ascension and Los Matadores in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match When was the last time we had a Triple Threat match of any kind on Superstars? I couldn't honestly tell you, but it's been a few years at the very least. Granted, nothing was on the line, but the match peaked my interest when I saw what was on tap for this week's episode. Then again, the outcome was never once in doubt given who was interested, but I still appreciated that it was something out of the norm. The crowd didn't have any incentive to cheer for any of the three teams since they're technically all heels (I refuse to refer to Los Matadores as babyfaces), but it was a decent match on the whole. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Sheamus and Kane def. Dean Ambrose in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match by Disqualification Sheamus' pre-match promo was well done and I continue to think that he could fare well as Mr. Money in the Bank if he's booked properly and cashes in successfully. However, while watching this segment, I got the feeling that they might transition to the briefcase over to Ambrose, which would be cool by me considering he wasn't allowed to compete for it and he was original pick to win months ago. I couldn't have been happier when the match was cut short because I've had my fill of Handicap matches over the last two years, and it set the stage for the main event nicely. I was also a fan of JoJo announcing the result of the match because that's something they don't normally do. On a side note, did anyone else find it odd that Ambrose didn't hobble down to the ring? I know Money in the Bank was a few days ago, but it still feels too soon for him to stop selling his injuries. Brie Bella def. Paige I really enjoy Paige and I don't mind Brie much, but I honestly couldn't care less about the Divas division right now. The rally Paige attempted to lead on Raw seemed pointless in retrospect, though all I can really hope for is that a call-up from one of the ladies from NXT is looming. This match wasn't anything special, but I guess we finally got confirmed that Alicia Fox is a heel when she helped Brie win. That is, until she turns back babyfaces a month from now. |
