Stardust and The Ascension def. Neville and The Lucha Dragons (Kickoff Match)

This match hardly had any storyline support, but I enjoyed it from an in-ring standpoint. All six Superstars worked hard to deliver a decent performance and I'd say they succeeded. It was perfectly placed on the pre-show, there were a handful of fun high-flying spots and the heels picked up the surprise win, so I can't complain. Neville is completely directionless at the moment, but at least The Cosmic Wasteland has potential to be a cool trio if they're not booked to look like losers.

Kevin Owens def. Ryback to Win the Intercontinental Championship

I figured if there was anyone who could get a quality title match out of Ryback, it'd be Owens, and they produced an excellent opener on this show. They created compelling chemistry together and produced a hard-hitting back-and-forth bout. Ryback had his fair share of impressive spots and Owens played the heel role to perfection, especially with the finish that saw him rake the eyes of Ryback and roll him up to capture the belt. He was the best possible choice to take the title off Ryback and he has a batch of fresh faces to work with as champion.

ROH World Champion and ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal def. Bobby Fish (ROH World Championship  Wasn't Defended)

I love the idea of opening and closing the shows with Jay Lethal's title defenses and it makes me wonder if WWE will do something similar with Seth Rollins at Night of Champions. Lethal and Fish contested an excellent opener and although Fish and Kyle O'Reilly have yet to fully establish themselves as singles competitors, there were several points where I thought Fish had the match won. The final few minutes were especially enjoyable and the dirty finish protected Fish in defeat, so it was a well-booked matchup all around.

Silas Young def. Dalton Castle to Win Castle's Boys

I was surprised to see this match take place so early in the show considering it was one of the more anticipated bouts coming into the event. Young and Castle are polar opposites as characters and that's what has made their feud so great. The match wasn't amazing by any means, but the stipulation certainly made things more suspenseful. While I would have loved to see what Castle would have done with Young as one of his "Boys," having Young win was the more logical route to take since it prolongs the feud and keeps Castle in chase mode as he wants to get his "Boys" back.

Zack Ryder def. Adam Rose

As a broski, it's always a treat to see Ryder in action (and win!), but my god, Rose's new gimmick is absolutely awful. I think I hate it the more I see of it. The "hot, steamy poop" line from Rose on this week's NXT pretty much turned me against it, not that I was ever for it to begin with. These two have had a million and one matches in the past, and this wasn't one of their better outings. The crowd was beyond apathetic toward both guys, but at least Rose's reversal of Ryder's dropkick into a powerbomb was pretty nice. Other than that, this was a glorified waste of time.

Bo Dallas def. Jack Swagger

Similar to Ryder and Rose, Dallas and Swagger are no strangers to one another after facing off countless times before, but I actually enjoyed this match to an extent. Dallas is the middle of a character shift at the moment and he showed signs of his new aggressive attitude during this match. They also told a solid story with Dallas punishing Swagger for most of the match, only for Swagger to bounce back toward the end and fall short of victory. Now the next step is getting Dallas back on Raw.

PictureDean Ambrose pins Sheamus for the victory.
By Graham "GSM" Matthews

Sheamus Interrupted WWE World Heavyweight Champion and United States Champion Seth Rollins

As great of a talker as Rollins has become in the last year, he can repeat the same promo only so many times. He did a fine job of promoting his two title defenses at Night of Champions, but everything else felt like a repeat from Raw and past promos. Thankfully, he didn't go as long as he usually does and Sheamus also played his part well. The teasing of tension between the two set up the main event tag team match nicely as well as what might happen at the pay-per-view. For the record, whenever WWE does this, the person tends to cash in more often than not, so keep that in mind come Sunday.

Naomi and Sasha Banks def. Paige and Becky Lynch

I've made it very clear before about how much I despise the faction wars in the Divas division right now, but this match made sense given the recent feud between Banks and Paige. In fact, I enjoyed this match more than a majority of the Divas matches we've seen so far solely because of that reason. In addition to being well-wrestled, they told a solid story and the commentators acknowledged Paige's recent losing streak when she lost. I have no doubt they're building to a heel turn with her and I'd love to see it come as soon as Night of Champions during the Divas Championship match.

RJ's WWE Background

By RJ Marceau

Hi guys, I am on an article rampage so I decided to talk about my WWE background. I started watching WWE in 2002 by mistake. Every Sunday after football on Sundays I use to go up to my room and watch Cops on Spike TV. After Cops I would usually play PS2 or go to bed since I was 8 years old. One night I decided to watch the next program after Cops, which was Sunday Night Heat. Unaware of what was going on I watched the hour-long program. It was the Heat edition leading up to the Royal Rumble that night at 8. The one person that caught my eye was Kane. He was being hyped up as the front-runner to win the Royal Rumble. He was scary but was a super hero monster in my mind.

I didn’t watch the 2002 Rumble because I didn’t understand the whole PPV concept and they plugged Raw for the next night so I knew I would be able to watch it on Monday. After staying up to watch Raw the next night I was hooked. The next month I watched my first WWE PPV No Way Out. It was a historic night with the debut of the NWO. Chris Jericho defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin and HHH defeated Kurt Angle to become the #1 contender for the WWF Championship.
