![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Michael Cole Interviewed Triple H As much as I enjoy the weekly interviews between Cole and HHH on WWE.com, I couldn't find myself invested in this segment. It might have been due to it being in a different setting, but the content was nothing out of the ordinary and HHH didn't say anything that we didn't already know. Daniel Bryan interrupting the segment was well done and he cut a good promo, but it should have been longer considering he nor Orton didn't receive any more mic time for the rest of the show. The Usos def. Luke Harper and Erik Rowan I expected more of a match between these two teams considering it was their first ever outing against each other. They made the most out of the time they were given, but it is possible they were saving the bout for later down the line where it could develop into a real feud. The Miz attacking Bray Wyatt at ringside gave Harper and Rowan an out for losing while the win gave The Usos momentum going into their tag team title match on Sunday.

![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews TNA World Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles Confronted Dixie Carter; Mr. Anderson Returned to Attack Bully Ray Carter still has some work to do as far as her mic skills are concerned, but it was hard not to laugh during her opening promo with Styles. The over-the-top heel antics from her were comical, and I am not sure if that was intentional or not. Either way, Ray was excellent as usual and Anderson's return was a pleasant surprise that the live crowd was hot for (hell, they were hot for almost everything on this show). I could have waited another week to hear Anderson cut his first promo in a while, and him giving into the security guards was odd. Evidently, this wouldn't be the last time we would see him in this show, so I was impressed with his return as a whole and all signs point to him feuding with Ray going forward. I didn't mind the opening segment going so long as it brought back memories of the post-Bound For Glory show from 2011 that ran nearly 45 minutes, so I am least appreciative that this wasn't much of the same. Knockouts Champion Gail Kim and Brooke def. ODB and Velvet Sky Was anyone else laughing at the fact that everyone involved in this match (including Lei'd Tapa at ringside) make up for the entire Knockouts division? Anyway, the match was disappointing since it was only mere minutes long, but it was successful in furthering the feud between Kim and ODB without having ODB take the pin-fall loss. It was odd not to see tension teased between Kim, Tapa and Brooke considering it was Tapa who cost Brooke the Knockouts Championship at Bound For Glory. ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Sasha Banks def. Emma Now that she is a full-fledged heel (and has been for quite some time now), it is good to see Banks adopt a new look and new entrance music to go along with new attitude. The match was good by Divas standards and involved two women who can flat out go in the ring. I was pleasantly surprised how much time they ended up getting and Banks winning was fine by me since she is in the midst of a push. This was a logical way of furthering the feud involving Banks, Emma, Paige and Summer Rae. The tension teased between Emma and Paige was intriguing and it should lead to something sooner rather than later since the commentators made mention of the fact that Emma is still due for a shot at the Women's Championship. NXT Tag Team Champions The Ascension def. Casey Maron and Tommy Taylor (Non-title) This was your basic squash match that was over within mere minutes. This would have been acceptable six months ago, but not now when The Ascension are already the tag team champions. With Adrian Neville and Corey Graves splitting up, I realize there is now a void that needs to be filled in the tag team division, but there has to be some sort of tandem that can step up to rival The Ascension. I was hoping for them to rush into their next feud on this show, but it wasn't meant to be, unfortunately. ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Seth Rollins def. Goldust I continue be blown away by just how impressive Goldust has been since returning to WWE last month. He holds his own in all of his matches and consistently puts forth a strong effort, which was the case in his match with Rollins. The action was pretty good while it lasted, but the finish felt anticlimactic. Nonetheless, it was a nice win for Rollins that helped give The Shield momentum going into the tag title match on Sunday. The Real Americans def. The Prime Time Players These two teams work well together and had a nice match here, but it could have used more time to feel somewhat meaningful. The Real Americans needed the win more considering the fact they are currently feuding with Los Matadores, but it is a shame the Prime Time Players are no longer being pushed. They came up short of winning the tag titles at Night of Champions last month and it has all been downhill since then, but I surely hope they will reinserted in the championship picture sooner rather than later. ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Big Show Interrupted Triple H and Stephanie McMahon This was a standard segment for the most part that didn't feature much out of the ordinary. We have been seeing the same thing from Show, HHH and Stephanie for weeks now, but this was a logical follow-up to the conclusion of last week's Raw. Show appearing on the Titantron despite being "fired" was strange, but Stephanie questioned that later in the show, so perhaps there is reasoning behind it after all. By the way, the "fired" Show showing up every week on Raw reminds me of when John Cena did the same thing a few weeks back, and this angle isn't any less asinine. Daniel Bryan def. United States Champion Dean Ambrose (Non-title) Bryan vs. Ambrose is just one of those matches that will never cease to entertain me no matter how many times it is done. I say that because we have seen these two face two several time in recent months, but it didn't matter much. This match was basically a tune-up for Bryan going into his WWE title match on Sunday, but it still featured some exciting action. They work so well together, so I am glad they received as much time as they did. I am usually not high on the mid-card champions losing non-title matches, but Ambrose looked strong enough in defeat that I will excuse it this one time. |
