By Graham "GSM" Matthews Daniel Bryan Confronted Vickie Guerrero and Brad Maddox Seeing Vickie and Maddox in the ring wasn't the most exciting visual to kick off the show with. Weren't these two at each other's throats a few short months ago? Anyway, their promos were practically pointless in the sense that they accomplished very little. Bryan's promo was decent, but I would have preferred to see him more serious and cut an intense promo similar to the one he had with John Cena prior to SummerSlam. If nothing else, at least the announcement of the main event match gave viewers something to look forward to for the rest of the show. Luke Harper and Erik Rowan def. Kofi Kingston and The Miz Since both Miz and Kingston have history with The Wyatt Family, it made sense for this match to happen with Bray Wyatt currently out of action with an injury. The match was good while it lasted, but it certainly could have used a few more minutes. The finish seemed to come out of nowhere, but that clothesline from Harper onto Kingston was brutal. This also helped further the feud between Miz and Wyatt without Wyatt having to even step in the ring, so job well done there.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Magnus Interrupted TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bully Ray Dixie Carter did a better job with pacing her promo this week. It wasn't fantastic, but at least she wasn't rushing through it this week, which was a plus. Not to mention the fact that she once again garnered a massive amount of heat from the live crowd. Ray's promo was good while it lasted, and Magnus showed great fire against the world champ. All around, this was a solid segment and kicked off the show on a high note. Robbie E def. Hernandez, Daniels and Eric Young in a Fatal 4 Way to Earn the Opportunity to Enter Last in the Pre-Show Gauntlet Tag Team Match at Bound For Glory Robbie and Young are both comedic figures, Hernandez can be solid in the ring at times, and Daniels is just flat out entertaining. The styles of these four competitors didn't mesh well here, but they didn't need to. They kept the action short and sweet with everyone involved hitting their signature maneuvers at one point or another. Robbie E winning was a bit of a shocker, but it was good to see the commentators play it up as a big win for BroMans. However, I surely hope they don't become the No. 1 contenders to the tag team titles on Sunday. By Graham "GSM" Matthews NXT Tag Team Champions The Ascension def. Adrian Neville and Corey Graves I was surprised to see this match not advertised in advance, but it was still a great way to kick off the show. Personally, I found the last match between the two tandems to be better, but this bout was still solid and got everyone involved by the end. The Ascension winning clean was smart booking and makes them look strong going into their next program (whoever that may be with). I liked Graves turning on Neville, but it seemed to come out of nowhere. I mean, no tension was teased between them at all in recent weeks. Even still, this was a nice way of shifting both men into singles competition in a logical feud against one another. Tyler Breeze def. CJ Parker It was good to see Breeze back after a brief absence, and the Full Sail University absolutely adored his antics as much as I did. However, that didn't bode well for Parker, who was unceremoniously booed by the live crowd, and I can't say it is wrong of them to do so. His character isn't terrible, but it is hard to relate to and just too goofy for my liking. I guess anyone who is up against Breeze should prepare to be booed. The match itself was nothing special, but decent at best. Even still, Breeze going over was the best possible outcome and I hope this was the blow-off to this feud. Again, this was another contest that should have been advertised in advance. By Graham "GSM" Matthews United States Champion Dean Ambrose def. Dolph Ziggler I was wondering why Ziggler never received a rematch for the U.S. title after his last title match ended in disqualification, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the feud be blown off once and for all on this show. I was even more surprised that the match was featured in an advertisement this past week on Raw, something that hasn't been done for as long as I can remember. Anyway, the match itself was great and they maintained a consistent pace throughout. These two have excellent chemistry together, so it was good to see them receive as much time as they did. Ambrose winning clean established him as a credible champion, but it leaves me thinking what is next for Ziggler. Tons of Funk and Santino Marella def. 3MB Normally, I would complain about how random this match is, but this specific contest had a particular story going into it. Since Tons of Funk couldn't overcome the odds by beating 3MB in a 3-on-2 Handicap match last week, it was only logical for them to enlist a tag team partner to take on the trio in six-person tag action, and who more fitting than Santino? The action was of course targeted toward the kids in the audience, but it was pretty painless for the most part. |
