NWA National Heavyweight Champion James Storm, Eli Drake, Colt Cabana and NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis Interrupted Each OtherAll four of these guys have been talking quite a bit about each other lately, so it was merely a matter of time that they were involved in the same segment. Everyone had a point to make and I liked how everyone played off one another. It was established that Aldis and Storm would face off in six-man tag action in the main event. If Team Aldis won, Cabana would get the National Heavyweight title shot he's been looking for, but if Team Storm won, he'd get an opportunity to compete for the Worlds Heavyweight title. NWA might be the one wrestling show where I don't mind promos kicking off the show, especially since they don't overstay their welcome and usually serve a purpose. Trevor Murdoch def. JocephusMurdoch talked before the bout how he really wanted a contract with the NWA and would wrestle Jocephus to get it, which in turn saved Jocephus from getting "suspended" for his actions a few weeks ago. I have no desire to see Murdoch featured prominently on this show, but I will admit that he is a fine fit for the NWA. The match was nothing worth writing home about except that it was over relatively quickly. I don't know if he's any good, but Jocephus has been booked like a total goof so far.

Shelton Benjamin def. Akira TozawaWelp. Main Event was exactly where I feared Tozawa would end up following his move to Raw in the 2019 WWE Draft, and here he was. Benjamin on Main Event was hardly a surprise, but I'm slightly surprised he didn't put over Tozawa, simply because Tozawa has more untapped potential than Benjamin does at this point. Other than that, this was a well wrestled match that the crowd could not have cared less about because these guys are rarely on WWE TV. Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder def. Eric Young and Mojo RawleyFew makeshift tag teams bore me more than Rawley and Young. They aren't a regular tandem and I hope they never are. In their defense, they're far from terrible, but they are terribly uninteresting, both individually and collectively. They were put together here just so they could be beaten by Hawkins and Ryder. The match itself was perfectly fine and Hawkins and Ryder brought some good energy, but this was basically a battle of the losers ahead of Hawkins and Ryder's participation in the WWE World Cup at Crown Jewel.
Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch def. WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Kairi Sane (Non-Title)I was wondering why Paige was back to accompanying The Kabuki Warriors to the ring, but then it became clear that she was solely there for them to turn on her and cement their heel turn (if they hadn't already). It was a bit of an awkward angle because Asuka sprayed green mist in Paige's face and that was it (due to Paige not being able to take any bumps), but at least the match that followed between Lynch and Sane made up for it. They produced a great opener and I was happy the interference from Asuka at ringside was limited. Buddy Murphy def. R-TruthIt was weird seeing Truth come down the ring rapping by himself for the first time in forever. This really should have been a straight forward win for Murphy but instead turning into a competitive contest. There was no reason for Murphy to have to capitalize off the silliness surrounding the 24/7 Championship at ringside to beat Truth. I'm glad he won, but this wasn't the strongest start for him on Raw.
NXT Cruiserweight Champion Lio Rush def. Oney Lorcan (Non-Title)Rush actually beat Lorcan to become the number one contender to the NXT Cruiserweight Championship last month before winning the title from Drew Gulak on NXT a few weeks later. Their initial encounter was excellent, but this felt like a watered down version of that. It was perfectly fine for what it was and both guys had solid showings, but it was as formulaic as most matches we see on 205 Live nowadays. Raul Mendoza def. Tony NeseMendoza has appeared on 205 Live before as well as NXT countless times. He's a hell of an athlete that excites me more than half of the Cruiserweight division and even some stars in NXT, the only issue is that we don't know much about him. This was a very well wrestled match, but the crowd sadly couldn't have cared less. Mendoza's surprise win gets his 205 Live run off to a strong start but doesn't help Nese's cause as he continues to lobby for a shot at the championship.
