By Graham "GSM" Matthews The Authority Addressed Brad Maddox and Vickie Guerrero After about a month of being full-fledged heels, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon went back to being babyfaces on this show. Putting Maddox and Vickie in matches (that no one wants to see) was of course going to garner a babyface reaction, so what was the point? I continue to be bored out of my mind when it comes to the continuous power struggle on Raw, and I highly doubt it is bringing in many new viewers, either. WWE Champion Randy Orton def. Brad Maddox in a No Disqualification Match (Non-title) It was important to put heat on Orton going into his title defense against Big Show on Sunday, but a win over Maddox doesn't exactly mean much. It was fun to see Maddox battle back for a few seconds yet ultimately get destroyed by Orton. The no disqualification stipulation allowed Orton to be vicious, but the fans didn't have an incentive to care about Maddox getting attacked by Orton due to him being a heel authority figure.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Luke Harper and Erik Rowan def. The Usos It was great to see a match kick off the show for once instead of the standard segment we usually receive. Both teams worked hard and had a fun outing that set the tone for the rest of the show. The pace was kept consistent throughout and The Usos lost nothing from coming up short to The Wyatt Family, as they have been doing some of the best work of their careers in recent months. This win also gave The Wyatt Family credibility as they head into their match against Daniel Bryan and CM Punk at Survivor Series. Natalya def. Tamina Snuka After the Divas Championship match was given great time on WWE Main Event this week, I was disappointed that this match ran so short. I realize this isn't Main Event, but it isn't Raw, either, so they should have given the match more time, especially considering most of this show consisted of filler. Obviously, they have had far better matches in the past and I hope a rematch takes place at some point in the near future. It also appears Natalya is still in the hunt for the Divas title, which is nice to know since she and AJ Lee have the potential to have a great feud together. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Mr. Anderson Interrupted Aces and Eights Bully Ray's promo was solid and a logical follow-up to last week's "breakup" angle. Anderson cut a short and sweet promo as well that helped hype his upcoming matchup with Ray. Since Anderson recently re-signed with TNA, I highly doubt he will be losing his match with Ray, so it makes me happy knowing Aces and Eights will be ending after all. Anderson challenging any member of Aces and Eights to a match was a nice hook for following the commercial break. Mr. Anderson def. Knux The match was decent enough, but nothing special. It didn't help that Knux lost to someone in street clothes, but I guess it added to the realism of the bout since Anderson had no time to prepare. Anderson emerging victorious was no surprise, but it helped him build momentum toward his match against Bully Ray next week. However, shouldn't the commentators have played up the fact that this was Anderson's first TNA match in over two months? By Graham "GSM" Matthews Summer Rae and Sasha Banks def. Bayley and Charlotte The NXT women's division has been more entertaining than the Knockouts division in TNA, and even the Divas division on WWE's main roster at times. There is just a plethora of talent and it is good to see more ladies getting involved in the ongoing Summer and Sasha angle. The match was decent and Bayley helped limit Charlotte's in-ring time. Charlotte's heel turn was unexpected, especially after she was the one who was rude to Summer and Sasha the week prior. However, I like the move to turn her heel, as it not only adds to the BFF faction, but it helps Charlotte distance herself from her father and make a name for herself on her own. Aiden English def. Camacho It has been a long while since we last saw Camacho on NXT, but he showed a good deal of potential in the ring here as a singles competitor. However, as expected, the match was all about English. It was a glorified squash in that Camacho scored some offense, but English ultimately picked up the victory. Since Camacho is an established heel, I am assuming English is now a babyface, as he didn't do anything to turn the crowd against him. I enjoy his act and don't really care whether he is a babyface or a heel, but he needs a real program sooner rather than later. |
