#AskGSM Edition #54: Survivor Series Fallout, Sting's WWE Debut, Dolph Ziggler's Future, More11/24/2014 By Graham "GSM" Matthews #AskGSM is a weekly Q&A video where I, Graham "GSM" Matthews, answer fan questions from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in regards to the world of wrestling. Nothing is off limits, and this week’s edition touches upon a variety of topics including:

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Fandango def. Justin Gabriel (Kickoff Match) I appreciate the effort WWE put into "repackaging" Fandango, but he's essentially still a dancer, so what's the point? Adding the winless Rosa Mendes to act will do nothing for him. What's worse is that the only reason why Fanadngo was over to begin with was because of his catchy entrance theme, but now that that's gone, the character is dead in the water. Johnny Curtis is actually a very good wrestler, and it's a shame he's been saddled with this stupid persona. Jack Swagger def. Cesaro (Kickoff Match) I said it in my Main Event review and I'll say it again here: If Swagger was medically cleared to compete in this match, why wasn't he added to Team Cena? It makes no sense from a storyline standpoint. I was disappointed Cesaro wasn't on the card in any manner, so I was glad he was incorporated into the pre-show at least. He and Swagger worked a good match as they always do and the live crowd was into Swagger. I'm glad Swagger picked up the win, but Cesaro remains an enhancement talent. He deserves better, but you already knew that. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Michael Cole Interviewed Triple H WWE has done a great job of making the multi-man main event at Survivor Series mean something and this was an effective way of driving home its importance. Cole was fine in his role and HHH drew strong heat with his lines about being better than everyone from the Attitude Era. The addition of the "everyone gets fired on Team Cena if Team Authority wins" is an intriguing one. Usually, it'd guarantee that the babyfaces win on Sunday, but I'm not so sure since I still believe it's not the right time to eradicate The Authority. United States Champion Rusev def. Dolph Ziggler (Non-title) These two haven't faced off much in the past, so it felt fresh and they proved they can work well together. It could've gone a little longer than it did, but for the time it was given, they had a nice matchup with a fun finishing sequence. The crowd popped big when Ziggler hit the Zig-Zag, which goes to show that the crowds are getting more and more desperate to see Rusev lose. It's going to be a major moment when he finally does. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Becky Lynch def. Bayley I was hoping for a longer match from the two, but for the time they received, they made the most of it and had a nice contest. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this was their first one-on-one encounter, so it felt fresh. Both Bayley and Lynch needs wins, but Lynch hasn't won a singles match in months and Bayley can absorb the loss being the underdog babyface she is. Charlotte coming to Bayley's aid was a solid way of solidifying her as a face and I'm curious as to what the NXT Women's Championship match will be at the next live special. The Vaudevillians def. Mini Lucha Dragons There hasn't been much interaction between The Vaudevillians and The Lucha Dragons since The Vaudevillians became the No. 1 Contenders to the straps, so this was a good way of furthering their feud. Yes, it was silly and something you'd see on the main roster, but it wasn't terrible and only put more heat on the heels. Most importantly, it was only a few minutes long and it didn't overstay its welcome. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Paige def. Alicia Fox This is the third time we've seen this match in the last week and I didn't care about it any more than I did the first time. I realize they have history, but as I've stated before, fans have been given no reason to cheer for Fox. Sure, Paige turned on her, but what exactly about her makes a babyface? The in-ring action was actually good, but the two trading wins doesn't do much for this viewer. Sin Cara def. Curtis Axel This match would have meant more if the two had an issue with each other. They branded this as a rematch from last week, but there was nothing about it that was out of the ordinary. It was a well-wrestled match and all, but Axel bores me to tears and Cara is irrelevant (on the main roster, anyway). Cara going over again doesn't do anything to boost his credibility since he's been in a holding pattern for years. |
