Trent Seven def. Kona ReevesWe were spared of a Kona Reeves match on Wednesday's NXT, but no such luck on NXT UK. Reeves ran down Seven in a pre-match promo that generated pretty good heat, but I still can't bring myself to care about the dude. He scored some offense, but this was basically a glorified squash match for Seven to allow him to keep his momentum rolling. I appreciated that this kept short and sweet. Eddie Dennis returned in the crowd afterward and grabbed a hold of Seven's hand. I like that as Dennis' first feud back. A-Kid def. Jack StarzA-Kid is a hell of an athlete from what I've seen and should be an exciting addition to the NXT UK brand. This is should have been his official debut as he hit his signature spots, showcased his skills and went over in decisive fashion. Props to Starz for selling his stuff as well as he did. Jordan Devlin issued a challenge to A-Kid later in the night, so I assume that match will take place next week.

Rey Fenix def. Nick JacksonThe story is that Matt Jackson was injured at the hands of Santana and Ortiz on last week's show, forcing Nick to fend for himself here against Fenix. I honestly can't remember the last time I've seen Nick go at it alone (if ever), but he had a hell of a showing in this match. Of course, that shouldn't come as any surprise considering who his opponent was. This was a highly entertaining affair that was perfectly positioned as the opener. The crowd being as loud for this as they were only added to my enjoyment of it. I will argue all day long that Fenix is one of the most exciting wrestlers to watch in the world today. Hikaru Shida def. Britt BakerShida is one of the few women in AEW who has consistently impressed me, but this wasn't one of her finer outings. For whatever reason, she and Baker didn't click all that well and the crowd was still recovering from Fenix vs. Jackson. It didn't help the match lacked meaning. I'm glad Shida won as she continues to climb the ranks in the AEW women's division, but as I've said many times in the past month, AEW should be doing a better job of showcasing their women and providing viewers with a reason to care about them as characters.
Raw Women's Champion Becky LYnch vs. Rhea Ripley Ended in a No Contest (Non-title)It's crazy to think that this marked the first time Lynch has appeared in front of the Full Sail University crowd in over four years. She called out Shayna Baszler and her cronies for a fight but ended up getting Ripley instead. Hey, I'm not complaining! This is absolutely a money match that can be revisited on the main roster, so I was glad it ended in a non-finish following the interference from Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir. What we got from Lynch and Ripley was really good and I liked how Ripley was made to look like an equal to Lynch throughout. Matt Riddle def. RicochetRiddle was supposed to go one-on-one with Kona Reeves, but Raw's Ricochet ambushed Reeves before the bout and ended up replacing him against Riddle. Ricochet vs. Riddle wasn't a match I knew I wanted until it happened. They weren't given a ton of time, but this was a hell of a sprint and exactly what I hoped it would be. Riddle winning ahead of his match with Finn Balor at TakeOver: WarGames III was the right call. Speaking of which, I feared their feud would get lost in all of the Survivor Series hype, but they brawled after SmackDown Superstars Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro ran in and were tossed from the ring by Riddle and Ricochet.
#AskGSM Edition #312: Jim Cornette's Comments, Kevin Owens = Face of Raw?, Survivor Series, More11/20/2019 #AskGSM is a weekly Q&A video where I, Graham "GSM" Matthews, answer fan questions from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in regards to the world of wrestling. Nothing is off limits, and this week’s edition touches upon a variety of topics including:
ROH World Television Champion Shane Taylor def. Joe HendryThis match happened during the Honor United tour over in England late last month, but this was my first time seeing it as I never watched any of those events. I've made it known in my reviews that I'm not a fan of Hendry's and don't get his hype, but it was smart to have him challenge for the ROH World Television Championship on this show because of how it emanated from his home country. They were solidly behind him throughout and bought into some of the nearfalls, but in the end, Taylor reigned supreme. Taylor has been doing great work as champ since the spring and I hope he holds it for another few months (assuming he doesn't leave at the beginning of 2020 as had been rumored). Overall ShowThis edition of ROH TV largely recapped the Honor United tour and featured highlights from Rush vs. Jeff Cobb for the ROH World Championship, Jay Lethal's heel turn and subsequent explanation for his actions, Kelly Klein vs. Mandy Leon for the WOH World Championship, and "Speedball" Mike Bailey vs. Flamita (who I read reportedly signed a one-year deal with ROH). Meanwhile, Taylor vs. Hendry is fun if you haven't seen it before but far from must-see. The card for Final Battle next month is slowly coming together, but it feels like there's little to no buzz surrounding what's supposed to be the company's biggest pay-per-view of the year.
