JTG defeated Chavo Guerrero
Horrible match. These two do have chemistry, but after seeing so numerous times, it ruined my experience in watching this contest. The match itself was predictable, logical, and boring. Why does JTG continue to win matches? He has no character, no personality, and no talent. Chavo, on the other hand, is an actual good wrestler, yet is too "old" to be winning at this point. Chris Masters defeated Curt Hawkins Yet another horrendous contest. Don't get me wrong, these two are both decent wrestlers, but they just can't work in the ring together. It was an exact repeat of a few weeks ago when they fought, and seeing Hawkins lose again disappoints me. Shouldn't they be pushing more heel Superstars since we have a face Intercontinental Champion? Zack Ryder and Primo defeated Darren Young and David Hart Smith A better match than the previous two, but still very mediocre. By this point now, everyone knows Darren Young can't wrestle, yet WWE still continues to display his weaknesses in matches. What the hell is going on with Primo's status? Is he heel or face? And did Smith get new jobber music again? Anyways, Ryder and Smith are solid workers, but it still doesn't make up for the terrible match overall. I'm glad to see we see Ryder and Primo actually win for once, and hopefully this builds them towards a possible tag team title match. Yoshi Tatsu defeated Tyson Kidd Without much competition, this wins Match of the Night. Kidd and Tatsu share much of the same style, so this match had a lot of potential. It was a good match, but it could have been better. The surprising finish should of excited me more, but it didn't. I am still baffled as to why WWE is pushing Tatsu, who has no mic skills, and not Kidd. Kidd should be picking up more victories to build towards a United States Championship match. Final Review After a few weeks of decent shows, this one stops the roll. A night lacking of good matches, this show is a complete miss. The wrong people went over all night long, which again questions my interest and faith in this show. By the way, does anyone know what the heck happened to Jackson Andrews?! Good morning, bleachers! GSM is back today with some huge news regarding the debut and plans of the former TNA Knockouts Champion Awesome Kong.
WWE Creative are pitching around ideas of debuting Awesome Kong, under the shortened name of 'Kong', very soon on the SmackDown brand. They have faith to put her over as a top heel Diva in WWE. Almost immediately, Kong will begin a relationship with the villainous group of Lay-Cool as their bodyguard. Kong will also embark on a possible feud with "The Glamazon" Beth Phoenix leading up to an encounter at WrestleMania 27. Expect her debut to come soon, as Kong may be skipping FCW and be brought straight to the main roster. If she was to go down to developmental first, it would not be for long and only to become adapt to the WWE style. The full report can be found by clicking here. GSM's Thoughts This seems as a huge opportunity for WWE to strike something really special in the Divas division, which is something we haven't seen in years. Of course this would knock plans for Phoenix vs. Natayla for the Divas Title at Mania right out of the water, but an opportunity like this is a limited opportunity. Stay tuned for more updates regarding Kong in the next few weeks. Thanks for reading, bleachers! Happy Tuesday, Bleachers! I usually write reviews for the Superstars andSmackDown shows, but this week I so throughly enjoyed the RAW broadcast that I'd like to do a recap for it occasionally.
My Internet has been going on and off all day, so I apoligize for not publishing sooner. John Cena, The Miz, and CM Punk Opening Segment A great segement to open the show and return for Cena to television. There have been rumors going around that Miz might be competing against Cena atWrestleMania, so this was a nice preview. I didn't really enjoy Cena's humor, but he always gets around to being serious somewhere in the promo he's making. The attack by Nexus and the joining of Koizlov and Santino was decent, as it's different as the usual hit-and-run agenda they stick to when demolishing Cena. WWE Tag Team Champions Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov defeated The Usos (WWE Tag Team Championship Match) The match itself was okay, but I personally found it boring and predictable. How many times have we've seen these teams face off, and what's usally the result? Despite the numerous times this match has occurred, it would have been better if it was added as a title match at theRoyal Rumble, as currently only three matches are advertised. Logical finish seeing Santino and Kozlov aren't bad champions and haven't held the belts long. John Morrison defeated United States Champion Daniel Bryan (Non-title) An excellent match. I was really surprised to this match occur with no build-up, or even a contender's match leading up to it to make it a title match. This is something I would of liked to see on pay-per-view, but it added more star power to the show. Great move to have Morrison pick up the victory, as it sets up a future rematch with the title on the line. The promo by Sheamus was good, but it didn't really seem to accomplish anything. Sheamus has not won a match since he won the King of the Ring, so it would be smart to give him a streak of wins before the return of HHH if the feud will mean anything. Randy Orton defeated Dolph Ziggler Lived up to my expectations, as it really was a blockbuster match. This match has the same caliber as the World Championship match at Royal Rumble, so expect great things in the Ziggler vs. Edge match next Sunday. As said by Cole, this was the first-ever meeting between these two, so why would WWE throw this out on RAWwithout any hype the week prior? A brand vs. brand match added some more excitement into the match, but not as much as it used to which is still okay. The Zig-Zag-into-an-RKO finish was a dream finish, and it really showcased Ziggler's ability to hang with the big stars. The post-attack by Miz was also well done which adds more emotion into the feud that wasn't all there before, even though I would of liked some interference by World Champion Edge on behalf of Orton. Divas Champion Natayla defeated Maryse I really expected some more from this match-up, as I was disappointed it didn't take place last week. Since being reduced to a valet of Ted Dibiase, Maryse has lost a ton of momenteumn. She may not have been the best worker, but she did garner a lot of heat during her reigns as champion and put on some quality matches. This match, however, was too short to be considered anything special. Mark Henry Won An Over-The-Top-Challenge As soon as Dibiase got on the mic, I saw this coming, since is done every year but adds no hype/excitement to the actual Rumble match itself. It was put chaos, and not in a good way. The randoness of the lower mid-carders of RAW added nothing to hype the match, so was it done to kill time? The biggest question I have about this segment as to why they had Henry eliminate the man who needs some heat right now, King Sheamus? Poor booking. CM Punk def. John Cena by Disqualification An amazing match that wins Match of the Night. I'm glad they did the right thing by ending it in interference, as this would or will make a great pay-per-view match down the line, with or without a championship on the line. Cena and Punk have very great chemistry, and I have been enjoying this feud so far. I'm also glad to see Punk get himself hurt just to get the win, seeing no one these days does that and ignores the fact that they will lose. I felt as the "new" Nexus was missing something with only Punk and three green members, so I'm thrilled to see the newest member be revealed as the Batista-lookalike Mason Ryan. It adds more suspense in the feud as well as the group, so expect more surprises as the rivalry progresses. Final Review With three very strong matches, this turned out to be a great show. It passes as a small hit and also succeeded in hyping the Royal Rumble pay-per-view in two weeks. 2011 has been excellent so far for the three RAWs we have witnessed and I hope to see it continue as the Road to WrestleMania progresses. Thanks for reading everyone and join my Friday for my upcoming WWE Superstars hit list. Rey Mysterio and R-Truth Defeated "Dashing" Cody Rhodes and Alberto Del Rio
There was some debate on this one, but I'm going with this match as Match of the Night over the Kingston vs. Swagger match. It gave a reason for us to watch it with the decent promo at the top of the show at the same time building hype for the Royal Rumble. Rey Mysterio carried Truth through this match, but it was still very well done. It got great time and had a logical yet anticipated finish. Can anyone explain why the brand barrier continues to be broken? Trent Barreta def. Drew McIntyre A decent match while it lasted, but I would of liked to see a little more aerial maneuvers by Baretta again as I always look forward to watching his matches. I'm glad Baretta got the win here, and it helps the feud continue. It's not the greatest rivalry, but at least Baretta is getting used on television. I still don't like this McIntyre and Kelly angle though. It came off last night as a cheap chick flick, and the last time I check this was pro wrestling. I know, not that much of a difference, but this love angle is pointless for both of them. Big Show defeated Wade Barrett by Disqualification The match was pretty good while it lasted, so I'd like to see more from these two. They have chemistry, and is pretty much the only feud I'd like to see Show in with anyone else on the roster. The finish was well done as it leaves the match to continue for another day. The birth of this new Nexus with Barrett, Gabriel, Slater and Jackson dosen't interest me, but the debut of Ezekiel Jackson does, and I am ecstatic he is finally being used right. On a side note here for those who don't know, I am very big fan of Ezekiel Jackson. I have spent months arguing as to that he is face, but now that is all down the drain now with this heel turn. Sorry for the confusion. Beth Phoenix def. Michelle McCool with Layla Once again, another quality Divas bout. It wasn't excellent, but it is certainly better than the contests we usually seen done on SmackDown. The only thing that was missing is a story-line. Now that sometimes may be a good thing, but they should explain these matches as revenge of some sort or to get in line for contention at the Divas Title. One could only hope they are stalling for the debut of Awesome Kong... Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston Defeated Jack Swagger Although we have seen this match done numerous times in the past, these two can really work. Only if there was more time, it would have won Match of the Night. This should be the ending to their feud, as I see many possible opponents for Kingston's title on the horizon. Nonetheless, awesome match with many exciting spots. The Cutting Edge with Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero A great segment that helps build some more hype to the Royal Rumble in two weeks. These two have excellent in-ring and promo chemistry ,so building for the match will make the match worth watching, enjoyable and logical. Why would no one remember the wedding these two had three years ago? Oh yeah, the kids would. Anyways, it was nice revisiting history. I liked the "spear" tease for Vickie and the attack by Ziggler was well done. Ziggler has all the tools of becoming a break-out star in the WWE. Final Review A very enjoyable episode. The promos that occurred were either limited or meant something, and the matches were around average. Building hype for the Royal Rumble pay-per-view is a key factor in watching SmackDown, so that was also accomplished last night. Especially with this new Nexus faction, I for one am looking forward to the next edition of Friday Night SmackDown. Chris Masters and JTG defeated Curt Hawkins and Chvao Guerrero
I expected a decent contest at best, seeing how Hawkins and Guerrero at least have some chemistry. And I liked how at least someone remembered they were in La Familia together. Anyway, the match itself was meaningless and mediocre. Chris Masters and JTG were randomly thrown together, and neither are very good wrestlers. The wrong people went over here, as with the tag division in turmoil, Chavo and Curt would make a decent tag team. Burying them again dose nothing to help a very talented Hawkins. Gail Kim defeated Alicia Fox An excellent Divas contest. Josh hit it right on the button when he said Gail Kim was underrated, and hopefully she is soon put in the Divas Championship picture after the Natayla vs. Melina feud is over. Both of them hit a lot of good moves, so it wasn't like Kim was carrying Fox the entire time. Fox has come a long way from being a wedding planner to manager to champion. The win is good for Kim and I'm glad to see the fans cheering loudly (in my opinion) for her victory. As I've said in the last few weeks, it looks WWE is really starting to care about wrestling inthe Divas Division these days. Yoshi Tatsu, David Hart Smith, Darren Young and Primo defeated Zack Ryder, William Regal, and The Usos Without much competition, and the Divas contest close behind, this earns Match of the Night. It got great time, and it was a treat to see an eight-man tag team match on Superstars. It was good that everyone got some time in the ring, so that helped matters. But one question: when in the blue hell did Primo turn face? I'm going to get some criticism for this, but I think the wrong team went over here as I don't really like anyone on the face team. But there is a reason to that. Tatsu has no mic skills and will not break out despite all hype, DH Smith has no character, Darren Young still can't wrestle, and Primo just lost. However, Ryder deserves it as his character may be sloppy, but he can talk and wrestle. The Usos are in line for a tag team title match, and Regal, well I like him so he should be pushed before he leaves such as a program with Daniel Bryan. Final Review A decent show, but the hour went by fast. I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing, but there was nothing that memorable about this show if at all. I am grateful, however, we had a special main event. the wrestling was pretty good overall, and this show didn't include any single jobbing matches. |
