By Graham "GSM" Matthews Mark Henry Interrupted Paul Heyman and Cesaro Heyman's "My client Brock Lesnar..." shtick can get tiresome at times, but he did a fun job of switching it up a bit both on this show and on Raw this week. He hyped the match between Cesaro and Henry nicely, though the actual confrontation between Cesaro and Henry felt like fell flat. However, it was necessary that Henry got the upper hand in this segment given that he has zero momentum at the moment. Damien Sandow def. R-Truth It's bad enough when Sandow is relegated to being an enhancement talent, but he loses even when he wins when he has to dress up like a comedy character for no good reason. Yes, it was fitting with where the show took place (England), but the crowd wasn't very receptive towards it and Truth was a terrible foil for it. How this match got as much time as it did is absolutely beyond me. It wasn't bad, don't get me wrong, but it was decent at best and simply painfully boring. I couldn't even pay attention to the action with what Sandow was wearing and how ridiculous it was.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews John Cena Attacked Bray Wyatt Needless to say, Wyatt is an absolute god on the mic and while I enjoy all of his promos, this had to be his best in recent memory. The London crowd was the perfect audience and waving their phones back and forth during his entrance was simply phenomenal. They proved the point that he is slowly "brainwashing" the WWE Universe. Granted, it wasn't characteristic of a heel and made him more of a babyface than anything else, but it was fitting of his cult character and made for an excellent moment. I initially wasn't a fan of Cena getting a one-up over Wyatt, but that changed by the end of the night once Wyatt evened the odds. Cesaro def. United States Champion Sheamus (Non-title) These two had a very good matchup on Main Event last week and this was no different. They developed great chemistry together and produced a quality contest. Though I love England crowds, I was a bit annoyed that they began chanting the announcers' names whenever Sheamus was on offense. I realize Sheamus is no fan favorite in England, but that was disrespectful to the performers in my opinion. Nevertheless, I was fine with the finish, as it makes Cesaro more of a heel (something he was lacking only a few weeks ago) and sets up a rematch for the title at Payback. Sheamus has won enough non-title matches in recent weeks that this one loss won't damage him or the belt. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Magnus and Douglas Williams def. Gunner and Chris Sabin in a Joker's Wild Match Words can't describe how happy I was to see British Invasion reunite. They were my favorite tag team in TNA several years ago along with Beer Money and was very cool to see them back together, especially in England. Granted, it might have been for one night only, but the live crowd loved them and they worked a good opener with Gunner and Sabin. They were the right team to go over and kicked off the night on a high note. Why TNA ever got rid of Williams and didn't do more with him when they had him is beyond me. Samoa Joe and Bad Bones def. Daniels and Robbie E in a Joker's Wild Match Daniels and Robbie E tag teaming together was basically foreshadowed with the pre-match backstage segment, but at least their opponents weren't Kazarian and Jesse. Didn't Bad Bones face Joe a few months ago on an episode of Impact Wrestling? That made the match more interesting, along with the fact that their styles meshed well together. I didn't care to see Bones advance to the Battle Royal, but at least Joe did. Is Bad Bones under contract with TNA at all or is he a developmental guy or was he just there for a tryout? By Greg Lowenthal Hey guys, I'm going to keep this week's edition of the Lowdown short and sweet since I don't feel like doing too much writing. Raw wasn't all that interesting but because of the buildup heading into Payback, what will interest me the most will be the feud between Evolution and The Shield. I am hoping that this buildup will allow for a truly monumental match between the two factions and allow for a truly spectacular main event (or so I hope). SmackDown is proving to me why it is the better of the two WWE television shows to watch. I'm convinced that Sheamus will be one of the best United States Champions the WWE has had in a while. I'm also convinced that he is a fighting champion and will defend that belt vigorously. |
