Candice LeRae Won an NXT Women's Championship No. 1 Contender's Battle RoyalThere were a ton of nobodies involved in this thing, but that was solely because Rhea Ripley and Raquel Gonzalez took turns throwing them out. Ripley was my pick to win, so I was surprised when she and Gonzalez eliminated each other. I guess we'll have to wait a little longer to get Ripley in a rematch with Io Shirai for the NXT Women's Championship. This was a fairly standard Battle Royal otherwise with LeRae lastly eliminating Shotzi Blackheart in the end to earn the victory. LeRae and Shirai had a hell of a series of matches last year, and even with the roles reversed, I'm sure they can make magic again at TakeOver.

Miro and Kip Sabian def. Sonny Kiss and Joey Janela; Eddie Kingston Called Out AEW World Champion Jon MoxleyMiro looks to be in fantastic shape and he had a strong showing here as a dominant monster, but that was about the only highlight from this match. Everyone else was off their game and the match was a mess on the whole. It was also the wrong choice to open the show. As I've said before, Miro is a great get for AEW, but I fear that his pairing with Sabian has a very limited shelf life. He's above this nonsense and the tag team division for that matter. It's also made Penelope Ford a total afterthought in recent weeks. Meanwhile, Kingston's post-match promo calling out Moxley was short, sweet and exactly what it needed to be.
#AskGSM Edition #356: Is NXT Suffering From No Longer Having a Revolving Door of Main-Eventers?9/23/2020 #AskGSM is a weekly Q&A video where I, Graham "GSM" Matthews, answer fan questions from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in regards to the world of wrestling. Nothing is off limits, and this week's edition touches upon a variety of topics including:
Scorpio Sky def. Ben CarterAlthough I assumed it was taped on a different night, Carter is fresh off an excellent match with Lee Johnson on an episode of Dark that aired earlier in the evening. That helped a lot in showing people how great Carter is and why it was believable for him to take Sky to the limit. I never actually expected Carter to win, but as a match, this was excellent and saw both guys have strong showings. Regardless of whether AEW signs Carter or not, I really hope to see more of him on their shows.
