EC3 def. Jay Briscoe by DisqualificationThe match went all of two minutes before Briscoe got himself disqualified for punching EC3 in the corner of the ring for too long. Obviously, it was a disappointing finish, but I wouldn't call the match a waste of time. Yes, Ring of Honor should have made a bigger deal over this being the first-ever one-on-one encounter between these two, but at least the feud isn't over. They went at it afterward and Briscoe cussed out EC3 in a post-match backstage interview, so I like how they're making it personal and not just a friendly competition. Neither guy has been clearly defined as a heel, but it doesn't matter because the eventual rematch will feel like a marquee matchup if ROH can continue to play up the bad blood between them.

Kickoff Show: The Miz Won the Dual-Branded Battle RoyalAs far as Battle Royals go, this was decent. It wasn't anything overly special, but it was better than some WWE tends to do from time to time. I was pleasantly surprised it featured more notable names than I was expecting such as Miz, Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio and others, Superstars that typically wouldn't be caught dead on WWE's Kickoff shows. It was cool seeing Chad Gable and Dominik Mysterio go at it at the end, even though they were both SmackDown stars. You had to know Miz would resurface after not getting eliminated and throw out whoever, so that was a pretty predictable finish. That said, it was a nice win for Miz, who hasn't had a lot of luck lately and has largely been booked like a loser since dropping the SmackDown Tag Team Championship in April.
The Bollywood Boyz def. Ever-RiseBollywood Boyz and Ever-Rise interfered in last week's Fatal 5-Way main event, so I assume that was why they faced off here despite both teams being heel. It was a perfectly fine match albeit nothing special. Bollywood Boyz have been around forever and don't have much to offer in my opinion, so I wish Ever-Rise would have won in order to begin building credibility for themselves.
SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Street Profits and Raw Tag Team Champions The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) def. Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn, King Corbin, Dolph Ziggler and Robert RoodeWhile the mic work in the segment that preceded this involving all eight guys was solid, the segment itself was completely pointless. Yes, it set up this eight-man tag team match, but it felt like it went on forever and that it was largely designed to kill television time. How would New Day even be allowed to defend their Raw Tag Team Championship against two people from SmackDown right before Survivor Series? The matchup was fun for what it was and it was cool seeing The Street Profits team up with The New Day for the first time ever, but I can't say it made me any more interested in their Survivor Series outing than I was previously.
