WWE SummerSlam 2017: Early Preview of Event's Biggest Bouts

WWE SummerSlam 2017 is only a little over a week away and anticipated for the event is already in the air. As WWE's second biggest pay-per-view of the year, SummerSlam never disappoints in delivering a stacked show from start to finish and this year's installment should be no exception. While the card is not yet complete, what is being advertised so far appears to be promising, especially the marquee matches presented by both Raw and SmackDown Live.

Almost every active championship will be defended at SummerSlam this year, and most importantly, none of the matches are extremely predictable. That's part of the excitement, and henceforth I have a pretty good feeling SummerSlam won't end on an underwhelming note as it has in the past. It's never too early to start previewing the show's biggest bouts, so let's look at each of the event's top matches and potential victors.

Breaking Down the 2017 Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Next to WrestleMania, Money in the Bank just might be my favorite WWE pay-per-view of the year. It's strange because it isn't one of the "Big Four" (though it probably should be considering how devalued Survivor Series has become over the years), but almost every installment since the event's inception in 2010 has delivered in some form or fashion. This year, it will be exclusive to SmackDown Live, and looking at the lineup, it's going to be tough for the show to be anything less than solid, especially considering two Money in the Bank Ladder matches will be taking place (one being the first ever women's Ladder match).

Speaking of which, it's amazing how the Money in the Bank concept has remained refresh by and large over the last decade. The winner cashing it at an opportune time hasn't really changed at all, nor has the match itself, but the various talents that are a part of them have. As cool as it is that the women will finally get the chance to compete in a Ladder match, the men's version of the matchup deserves to go on last considering who will be involved. Most importantly, it isn't incredibly predictable who will win, but this article will attempt to analyze each combatant and the probability of them emerging victorious with the opportunistic briefcase in tow.

ROH/NJPW War of the Worlds 2017 Predictions

Once again, I find myself extremely excited for Ring of Honor's latest pay-per-view, War of the Worlds 2017, which of course will feature talent from New Japan Pro Wrestling this Friday night, May 12. Some of ROH's pay-per-views have been better than others from the ones I've seen in the last three years, but I can't remember a single one that was anything less than good. In fact, their last outing on pay-per-view, March's 15th Anniversary Show, was absolutely exceptional and one of my favorite all-around events in recent memory.

Personally, I've never been the biggest fan of ROH's relationship with NJPW. Yes, the matches are always fun, but they don't serve much of a purpose in the long-term, and they're just that: matches. ROH is often criticized for its lack of storytelling, but they do a damn good job of that with their own talent. This event will have a handful of matches that just seem random, but I'm sure it will be entertaining, nevertheless.

The last few installments of War of the Worlds have been a blast, so I'm looking forward to what should be a newsworthy night. Now, let's start making predictions for every match on the card!

ROH 15th Anniversary Show Predictions

Tonight, Ring of Honor will present its 15th Anniversary Show, live from Sam Town's Live in Las Vegas. Only six matches are advertised for the event, but each one of them has the potential to be phenomenal in its own way. Moreover, the show will also mark the official ROH televised debuts/returns of The Broken Hardyz and Bully Ray, so that should be special as well.

I typically find I'm more excited for ROH's pay-per-views than WWE's on occasion, just because their events almost always deliver. If you've never checked one out before, this would be a good place to start. There's plenty of star power on this card, and from the vibe I've been getting, there will be plenty of surprises in store. In a nutshell, you shouldn't regret your purchase if you tune in tonight.

Also, be sure to check out my exclusive interviews with Christopher Daniels and ROH COO Joe Koff ahead of tonight's event talking about the epic main event, legacies, goals, AJ Styles, and so much more. With that out of the way, let's start making predictions for the card!

I have been against having these stipulation pay-per-views in the past but I am really excited for this show on Sunday. The card has something for everyone and I’m expecting a good show. This is the last PPV before WrestleMania so don’t be surprised if they hold another “Wild Card” edition of SmackDown Live in March.
