Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and LA Knight Signed the Contract For Their Crown Jewel Match Before Knight Attacked Jimmy UsoHas anyone interrupted Reigns' entrance during this heel run he's been on? That was a cool change of pace and it made Knight feel like a total star. I would've liked more of a back-and-forth between them on the mic, but I appreciated Knight doing most of the talking as opposed to Reigns running through him verbally or doing anything to take away from his aura. I don't know how well they'll mesh in the ring, but Reigns vs. Knight at Crown Jewel absolutely has a big fight feel. The Street Profits def. The LWO (Santos Escobar and Carlito)I guess it was already obvious after Fastlane, but I assume this makes Carlito an official member of The LWO and not just an ally. Carlito was a last-minute replacement for Rey Mysterio, who was attacked backstage by Logan Paul and that caused Carlito to go to his aid. That protected them in defeat and gave the Profits a needed win. It was a good match if not fairly formulaic. Shotzi def. WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Chelsea GreenThis week just might be the most screen time the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions have gotten all year. They're feuding with Natalya and Tegan Nox on Raw, were challenged by Thea Hail and Jacy Jane to a title match on Tuesday's NXT for next week's Night 2 of Halloween Havoc, and appeared again here. Does this indicate Shotzi will find a partner to contend for the tag titles, or was this just an excuse to give Shotzi a win? Her feud with Bayley fizzled out, so this is better than her not being on television at all (even though the match itself was nothing out of the ordinary and didn't seem to accomplish anything notable). John Cena Was Interrupted by Paul Heyman and Attacked by Solo SikoaCena has a tendency to bit over-the-top at times and this was one of those instances. He related this apparent "slump" he finds himself in at the moment to almost being fired in 2002 and how he fears he may lose the audience's respect if his singles losing streak continues. It must not have mattered that much to him in the past if he didn't acknowledge it until now. I'm happy Cena's been back for the past two months, but this narrative is a stretch. His encounter with Heyman was solid, though, and Sikoa leaving him laying put heat on Sikoa heading into their Crown Jewel match. Bianca Belair Addressed Damage CTRLI appreciated that Belair mentioned quite a bit in her promo as opposed to just speaking vaguely about what's next for her. She put Damage CTRL on notice, said she'll face Bayley next week on SmackDown, and challenge IYO SKY for the WWE Women's Championship at Crown Jewel. This was well delivered, but the only issue is that it felt like a promo we probably heard her cut several times last year when she first feuded with the faction. We need some fresh faces in the title picture soon. LA Knight def. Jimmy UsoWe just saw these two go one-on-one earlier this month, but while this was nothing new, the crowd made this average main event much better by being so behind Knight throughout. Much like in the opening segment, he was treated like an absolute star by those in attendance and that added to my enjoyment of this. Post-match, Knight was get revenge on Reigns from two weeks ago by laying him out here. Obviously, he isn't winning the title at Crown Jewel, but WWE is doing everything right with him leading into the event. Overall ShowThis was a ho-hum edition of SmackDown on the whole with only the stuff involving Knight and Reigns standing out. I didn't care for the Cena and Sikoa segment this week, but at least it effectively hyped their match for Crown Jewel. Speaking of which, Belair vs. SKY is a strong addition to that card. Everything else on this episode isn't worth seeking out, but it's been terrific to see Knight in such a prominent spot on the show as of late and he's been thriving as a recurring highlight on the blue brand.
