Joe Alonzo def. Colby Corino to Win the NWA Junior Heavyweight ChampionshipThese two have battled at least once before (maybe more) with the gold up for grabs and it was one of the best bouts at Samhain. This was another enjoyable outing from them. I'm glad it was Alonzo who took the title from him because he's definitely improved as a talent and is the perfect person to be leading the division. Hopefully this means Corino can finally move up the card (unless he's on his way out of the company so he can sign with WWE as he was supposed to a year or two ago). La Rosa Negra and Ruthie Jay def. Tiffany Nieves and Reka TehakaThis was a super solid showcase for some of the women in the NWA's women's division who don't currently find themselves in championship contention. Nieves and Jay have made a number of appearances recently, but it was nice to see Negra back and I'm familiar with Tehaka from her matches on AEW's Dark shows. The top-rope splash Negra hit to win was damn impressive. Spencer Slade def. Magic Jake DumasI believe both of these guys failed to qualify for the NWA National Championship four-way match, so now they're back to being directionless. Slade is fine in the ring but is boring as a character, while Dumas has never really had direction. This was a perfectly passable match and didn't go needlessly long, but I have no clue what purpose it was supposed to serve other than to kill time. NWA World Women's Tag Team Champions The King Bees def. Pretty Empowered (Kylie Paige and Ella Envy) in a 2-out-of-3 Falls MatchIt was cool to see the NWA World Women's Tag Team Championship spotlighted in the main event, much like they were when King Bees originally won them. Two-out-of-three falls matches aren't common in the NWA and thus I thought it was a great stipulation for these teams. It delivered as a main event and King Bees retaining the titles was the right call (I was worried Pretty Empowered might regain them). Overall ShowAside from Slade vs. Dumas (which felt like a throwaway match but wasn't offensively bad), this was one of the stronger editions of Powerrr so far this year. The NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship changing hands in the opener was a pleasant surprise and obviously newsworthy, I liked the women's tag matchup, and the main event stood out. Really good stuff from Powerrr this week on the whole.
