The Country Gentlemen def. The Slime BallzWe've heard from The Slime Ballz in backstage promos in recent weeks, and although I wasn't overly impressed with what I saw, I appreciate the effort to give them some exposure before they made their in-ring debut for the NWA here. This was actually a damn good match with both teams having solid showings. The new Country Gentlemen are working well together and Slime Ballz proved that they can go. Kyle Davis Interviewed Samantha StarrIt feels like Starr has had a handful of title opportunities this year and has lost every single one of them, so doing something different with her character and experimenting with a heel turn is the right call. I thought she actually played the role well here and cut a quality promo. She introduced a random woman named Chelsea as her assistant, so that will only add to the act. This was refreshing progression for Starr's character. NWA Women's Television Champion Max the Impaler def. ChelseaChelsea stuck around just to get squashed by Max. Needless to say, I have no idea why this had to be a title match, but I suppose every match Max has is a title defense because that's the way the NWA Women's Television Championship works. This actually lasted longer than I anticipated, but Max still dominated the entire match and won decisively as they should have. They continue to roll as champ. The New Spectaculars 2.0 (Rush Freeman and Slade) def. The OutrunnersRush and Rolando Freeman found Slade through their scouting for the next member of The Spectaculars and it appears he might be here to stay based on his win here. He was perfectly passable and the match itself was fine. The Outrunners have been making plenty of appearances lately in the NWA, AEW and Ring of Honor, so I'm surprised they haven't been locked down to a deal yet. If they have been, then it obviously isn't exclusive. Joe Ocasio def. Rey Fury and Luke Kurtis in a Three-Way MatchI'm completely unfamiliar with Fury and Kurtis, but I thought they both showed signs of promise here. We'll see if they pop up again anytime soon, though. It was a fun junior heavyweight three-way that seemed to only exist to give Ocasio a victory. Colby Corino mentioned Ocasio during a backstage interview, so their feud apparently isn't over yet and there might be another match for the NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship coming between them. NWA National Champion "Thrillbilly" Silas Mason def. Devan DixonI really liked the setup for this last week with Mason granting his old tag team partner from the independent scene a title shot. It made this match mean way more than it would have without that segment and explanation. There wasn't anything too special about this main event, but it was well worked and, as expected, Mason laid a beating on Dixon afterward to remind viewers he's still a heel. EC3 and Jax Dane made the save before facing off with each other. Overall ShowThere isn't a ton of storyline progression in the NWA from week to week, but all of the fresh faces we've been getting as of late have been a welcome boost to the program. The reset button was hit and thus they're starting from scratch it seems like. This was a thumb-up show with the new names getting a chance to shine and seeds being planed for what's potentially to come. The NWA's "new era" is coming together nicely despite Samhain being a bump in the road (no pun intended).
