Knox and Murdoch vs. Southern Six (Kerry Morton and Alex Taylor) Ended in a No ContestKnox and Murdoch won last year's Crockett Cup, but it feels like they haven't done much aside from unsuccessfully challenging for the NWA World Tag Team Championship on a few occasions. They're a good team, but Southern Six should be the ones building momentum at the moment. Them winning would've been ideal, but the brawl/non-finish sets up a rematch and a potential program if they wanted to stretch this out. This was a well-worked opener. NWA Women's Television Champion Max the Impaler def. NWA Television Champion Mims in a Title Unification MatchMax pinned Mims in that Hardcore War tag team match back at Samhain in October. I'm glad they actually followed through with a championship match because Max technically earned a shot at the NWA Television Championship, but I didn't think both belts would on the line. Mims capturing the NWA Women's Television Championship would've been ridiculous, so obviously, Max winning was the correct outcome. They had a good outing and Max is enough of a threat that this didn't feel like a mismatch. The NWA has too many damn championships, so hopefully this title unification sticks. NWA United States Tag Team Champions The Immortals def. The Slime BallzSlime Ballz haven't had many appearances so far in the NWA and although they seem to be a talented team, I've largely been annoyed by them in their matches and promos. That's why I had no issue with this basically being a squash with The Immortals dominating them for a majority of the match. The crowd was into it, so I guess I'm not alone in feeling that way. This was what it needed to be. Can we unify the NWA World Tag Team Championship and the NWA United States Tag Team Championship while we're at it? NWA National Champion "Thrillbilly" Silas Mason def. BurchillI'm still not used to seeing Paul Burchill in the NWA, but he's been a nice addition to the roster. He probably should've had a longer chase to the championship so put the outcome more in doubt, but I thought they had the best bout of the night and put together an enjoyable main event. Fingers crossed this didn't mark the end of Burchill in the company. As for Mason, he continues to excel in his current role. Overall ShowFor the second straight week, we got a championship-heavy edition of Powerrr, which was a smart way to follow up on last week's big premiere on The CW app. Mind you, none of the matches were instant classics, but the action was pretty decent and the TV titles being unified was notable, so it was a solid show on the whole. I wasn't aware of any upcoming pay-per-views for the NWA until I saw Hard Times announced for March 2nd. I have no idea what that card will feature since I don't believe there's been a single mention of it on Powerrr the past two weeks outside of a quick commercial.
