NWA Television Champion Mims def. Carson DrakeThis was yet another instance where it would have been nice to know a bit about Drake before he got this championship opportunity. He's obviously a part of the NWA's new talent initiative and that's great, but why would anyone take him seriously as a threat to the title when we know nothing about him? That said, he and Mims had a well-worked match and it didn't need to last longer than it did. Father James Mitchell recently referencing Max the Impaler pinning Mims at Samhain, so we'll see if Mims eventually responds to that. NWA National Champion "Thrillbilly" Silas Mason Granted Devan Dixon a Title OpportunityThis was an excellent example of what I had an issue with in the opener and how to solve it. I don't believe Dixon has ever appeared on NWA programming before, but Mason established that Dixon helped him when Mason broke his leg two years ago and now wants to give back to him in the form of a title match, so this successfully set that up. Mason has been a heel lately alongside The Southern Six, so I expect him to do something dastardly to retain his title. Kamille and Thom Latimer def. Natalia Markova and Bryan IdolMercurio is now going by Bryan Idol, but the commentators are pretending Idol is Mercurio's cousin (in an Elias/Ezekiel situation) despite him having no change in his appearance. Weird. Him and Markova were already aligned, so this seemed like a logical match to do. Latimer and Kamille have nothing of note going on at the moment after what went down at Samhain, so although this felt like filler, it was decent and gave Latimer and Kamille a win. Interestingly, it was reported today that Kamille will be leaving the NWA when her contract expires at the end of the year, so we'll see if this ends up being her swan song or if she'll make another appearance or two between now and then. Tiffany Nieves def. Ruthie JayI liked how Nieves hyped up this match two weeks ago in her interview segment at the podium with Kyle Davis. She's skilled in the ring and is a nice addition to the NWA's growing women's division. Jay just unsuccessfully challenged for the NWA World Women's Championship at Samhain, so it meant something for Nieves to beat her. Hopefully she can be built up for an eventual title opportunity and won't be fed to Max the Impaler off the bat. Kyle Davis Interviewed NWA World Women's Champion Kenzie PaigeSamantha Starr earned an NWA World Women's Championship opportunity with her win on the Samhain pre-show, so Paige addressed her here ahead of their eventual championship clash. I missed when they said it'd be happening (if they mentioned it at all), but she did an effective job as always of hyping it up. Needless to say, I don't see Starr taking the title, but I appreciate that they're taking the time to make it feel somewhat important. Jax Dane and Tim Storm def. Trevor Murdoch and Burchill by DisqualificationWith the buzzed haircut and significantly smaller build, Burchill is almost unrecognizable, but it's cool to see him back in a wrestling ring for the first time since 2010 (at least on television/streaming). He's a good fit for the NWA right now. That said, his team with Murdoch was random because Murdoch already has an established tag team partner in Mike Knox. This was a solid main event, and although the disqualification finish was lame, at least it told the story of frustrations boiling over for Murdoch. He teased turning heel once again and it appears he might be heading in that direction again. Overall ShowThis was a quality edition of Powerrr on the whole. I don't think they have a pay-per-view coming up anytime soon, so they're filling the weekly shows with matches they'd typically save for the bigger shows. We're also getting a ton of fresh faces, but the key is in the follow-up with them. There's nothing you need to seek out from this episode, but it was a serviceable show and they filled the time well.
