Frankie Kazarian def. Jake SomethingSomething stepped up to Kazarian backstage last week after saying he previously looked up to him and didn't approve of his recent heel turn. Something has been gradually building momentum over the past few months, so I thought it was weird that he lost here. I'm not saying Kazarian should have lost, but almost anyone could have been in Something's spot. That was strange. This was a good match, though. TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace def. Savannah Evans (Non-Title)This was essentially a warm-up for Grace before she defends her TNA Knockouts World Championship against Evans' tag team partner, Gisele Shaw, at No Surrender. Well, I should say Evans' former tag team partner because Shaw turned on her after this was over. The match was whatever, and Evans has lost so much that she's hardly a threat this point, but I appreciate that they kept it on the shorter side. Shaw standing tall over Grace was the right call. TNA World Tag Team Champions ABC def. Grizzled Young Vets in Match #2 in the TNA World Tag Team Championship Best-of-3 SeriesMore tag team greatness from two terrific teams. Can we really be surprised? I can't think of a single Best-of-3 Series that didn't get to the third match, so although the outcome was never in doubt here, they delivered once again and had an entertaining encounter. I appreciated that ABC didn't winning decisively, thus protecting Grizzled Young Vets in defeat. Needless to say, the rubber matchup feels like it's guaranteed to go down at No Surrender. TNA Digital Media Champion Crazzy Steve def. RhinoThe TNA Digital Media Championship has practically been pointless since its inception years ago, but this is probably the perfect role for Steve. Rhino was a fine opponent for him and they had a decent match. They teased getting hardcore at one point, so perhaps they'll have a match without disqualifications. This didn't overstay its welcome and was exactly what it needed it be. Deaner vs. Joe Hendry Went to a No ContestThe match never got started due to AJ Francis having a rap prepared for Hendry in the ring. Maybe it was intentional, but it was awful. Hendry had the better rap yet again. Francis and Deaner attacked Hendry before Rich Swann (who turned down Francis' services a week or two ago) made the save. What a random use of everyone involved. This was certainly a segment that existed. Dani Luna def. Killer KellyMK Ultra will get their rematch with Decay for the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship at No Surrender, but they've been simultaneously feuding with Luna and Jody Threat in the meantime. I was wondering why that was until MK Ultra turned heel after Kelly lost to Luna here, then it made sense. The match itself was serviceable yet too short to be anything out of the ordinary. TNA World Champion Moose def. Kushida (Non-Title)It was really cool to see Kushida in the main event for a change with the world champ. Granted, he wasn't winning and I don't expect him to be a main event player for IMPACT in the future, but I thought he made the most of the opportunity by having a fun match with Moose and looking credible in defeat. Alex Shelley and Kevin Knight helped him fend off The System afterward, so a six-man tag team match feels pretty likely for next week's go-home show. Overall ShowTNA is still in a state of flux following the departure of Scott D'Amore last week, but it hasn't affected the television product... yet. That's because these shows were obviously taped before that happened, but I'm very curious how much TNA will change (if at all) with D'Amore gone, at least in terms of the booking. This was another thumbs-up edition of iMPACT! heading into No Surrender next weekend, which has a solid lineup on paper.
