WWE Main Event Review - August 10, 2023

Indus Sher def. Akira Tozawa and Apollo Crews

WWE really needs to get going with Indus Sher. They've had a few matches on Raw since being drafted from NXT in the spring, but not enough to get fans familiar with them. They've largely been relegated to Main Event lately, and without momentum, they can't be taken seriously as threats to the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. On the bright side, I really like the team of Tozawa and Crews given their history outside of WWE and wouldn't mind them teaming up in the future. This was a well-worked match designed to showcase Indus Sher's dominance.

Nikki Cross def. Tegan Nox

Cross will pop up on Raw once in a while to stalk Candice LeRae (a storyline that has led nowhere, by the way), but the only time we've seen Nox on Raw since she was drafted was for her brief appearance in that women's Tag Team Turmoil match a month or so ago. She was barely on SmackDown, too. What a waste. Cross has been on the main roster for years, whereas Nox was never really given a chance. They had a quality contest here, though, and made the most of the time they had.

Overall Show

As a result of the changes with the Raw and SmackDown commentary teams and Vic Joseph moving to SmackDown, Byron Saxton's new commentary partner for Main Event is Wade Barrett. I like Joseph, but Saxton and Barrett should be a better duo. The show itself was solid. We got two fresh matches featuring people we rarely see on Raw nowadays and the in-ring action was adequate, so I have no complaints.
