WWE NXT Level Up Review - March 15, 2024

Lola Vice def. Carlee Bright

It's interesting that Vice is back at the bottom of NXT's women's division after winning the NXT Women's Breakout Tournament and subsequently failing to capture the NXT Women's Championship. However, I'm not complaining as she wasn't ready to be a permanent player in the title picture yet. Getting more experience on Level Up will only help her cause. There wasn't much to this match, but it was perfectly fine for what it was.

The Family (Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo and Luca Crusifino) def. Drake Morreaux and Javier Bernal

This marked Morreaux's Level Up debut. I'm not sure if he's appeared elsewhere before (either on NXT TV or WWE TV as an enhancement talent), but he definitely has some size to him and this was a nice chance for him to show what he can do against some of NXT's more established stars. He wasn't in the ring for very long, but I thought he held his own and I'm interested to see more of him. This was a decent tag team match. Does this make Crusifino an official representative of The Family?

Sol Ruca def. Wren Sinclair

I'm surprised Ruca's first bout back happened on Level Up and wasn't saved for NXT TV. Then again, perhaps this was designed as an opportunity for her to work off any potential ring rust and Sinclair was a smart opponent for her in that case given how long she's been wrestling for (she isn't exactly a veteran herself but she's definitely more "seasoned" than Ruca at this point). This was a largely well-worked match with a nice pace, though the crowd was quiet until Ruca hit her (awesome) finisher because both are babyfaces.

Overall Show

By the usual Level Up standards, this was an above-average episode in my opinion and one that I enjoyed. Ruca wrestling her first match since returning from injury was notable, Morreaux debuted, and the opener was what it needed to be. We got a bit more star power than we normally do, so that was a plus. Level Up is an appropriate place for the developmental prospects to improve, but incorporating some familiar faces as this show did makes the show more meaningful.
