WWE NXT Level Up Review - March 8, 2024

Scrypts def. Dion Lennox

OTM continues to be an unimpressive faction and Scrypts being the leader hasn't done them many favors, but I maintain that this is a far better use of the former Reggie than the crap he was doing previously in NXT or the crap he was doing on the main roster before that. I haven't seen Lennox in several weeks, but he's someone who could have potential with more reps. Lennox held his own here and they had a nice little match.

Izzi Dame def. Karmen Petrovic

As I've said several times already, I don't understand why Dame and Kiana James are getting such an aggressive push. They have yet to be beaten, either one-on-one or in tag team competition. On one hand, I applaud the effort to book them strong consistently, but they're simply not interesting as a duo or even individually. I think Petrovic has a higher ceiling, to be honest. Even with the few minutes it went, this wasn't very good and seemed to fall apart by the end. The lesser-experienced talent should not be facing each other.

Tavion Heights def. Dante Chen

This was the third televised match these two have had since last May, and their second encounter actually took place on Main Event back in January. They work well together, but this wasn't their best bout. It felt like they weren't on the same page at certain points, but I enjoyed the finishing sequence. Chen is NXT's go-to enhancement guy, so I'm glad Heights went over this time as there's something there with him.

Overall Show

This edition of Level Up had its fair share of rough patches, particularly in the latter two matches, but I suppose that's what this show is for. It's better that they're botching here and not on NXT TV. Scrypts is far from what I'd consider a "developmental prospect," but everyone else on this episode is, and this episode was about them getting a chance to improve. From an in-ring standpoint, this wasn't the strongest show (even by Level Up standards), but it was decent on the whole.
