3 Ways WWE Can Continue to Succeed with NXT in the Wednesday Night Wars

The key for WWE to keep their product consistent is to not overexpose things and to maintain an interesting and logical product, which is what the black and gold brand has successfully done for the most part for the better part of five years now. If WWE wants to make NXT must-watch to compete with AEW, then they must continue those efforts as they make their move to the mainstream audience on USA Network come the September 18th edition.

Here are a few things they can do to help make it that way.

3. Don't Mix the Main Roster Stars into the show, Continue to Showcase the NXT Roster

Many fans including myself have our concerns about NXT now that it is making its move to USA that Vince McMahon will change things despite reports that say he will not be. NXT needs to continue to showcase its own roster on its show and just because it will be "mainstream" like Raw and SmackDown doesn't mean they need to have people from Raw or SmackDown on the show.

Maybe an occasional appearance from someone is okay every now and then.

2. Surprises

I thoroughly enjoyed Adam Cole's title defense the other night on NXT vs. NXT Breakout Tournament star Jordan Myles, even if the end result wasn't ever really in doubt. It's a special occasion that we get to see the title defended on the show. Going forward, they will need to continue to find ways to treat us, the fans, to maintain our interest.

Velveteen Dream is already scheduled to defend his North American Championship on the September 18th edition when the gold and black brand makes its USA debut.

1. Avoid Overexposure

This is something Triple H has successfully helped NXT to do real well, and if they wish to continue to succeed against the competition they must continue this. It is fun and special when we see a Superstar who has been off TV for a while because it helps keeps them fresh instead of them being shoved down our throats. The same goes for what I was saying above about surprises/treats. What makes them special is that they are only on occasions.

Look at the Takeover pay-per-views for example. There are only four at most during the year instead of 12. They aren't five or six hours either, two-three hours tops. They keep us wanting more, instead of dreading another hour. Avoiding overexposure must continue to be key for NXT if they want to succeed against AEW in the Wednesday night wars.
