A Fiendish Mistake

Bray Wyatt. The Fiend. Husky Harris. Whatever you wish to call this creative genius…

He’s been released.

How Vince McMahon and WWE creative dropped the ball on this boggles my mind. They did this not only once but TWICE!

After debuting on Raw alongside Luke Harper (RIP Brodie Lee) and Erick Rowan, Wyatt  took the entire wrestling world by storm. Utilizing his kiss of death, Sister Abigail, Wyatt went on to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and headline WrestleMania against the likes of John Cena and Randy Orton. 

​But after terrible booking which had Wyatt’s track record uneven with his stellar character work, Wyatt fell off WWE television for nearly a year. 

And then Vince and company were introduced to a persona more chilling than Kane. More terrifying than The Undertaker. More shocking than The Boogeyman.

In April 2019, Wyatt returned to the main roster, not as the leader of a backwoods cult but rather as…

The Fiend.

Masquerading as a jovial children’s television host with an ominous secret, Wyatt found himself back in the main event.

In fact, Wyatt became the most profitable merchandise seller for Vince, surpassing top draws Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns. 

But Vince has never seemed to understand Wyatt. He had a chance to create the next generation’s Undertaker, but failed miserably. The Hell In A Cell match with Seth Rollins was atrocious, the storyline with Orton ended in a loss, and Goldberg’s squash win destroyed his momentum. 

While Wyatt did have three world title reigns in WWE, he deserved far better.

Wherever Wyatt ends up, he is top star material and the most creative genius the business has seen in years. Rarely has an individual created two gimmicks that transcended the sport.
