The Dark Order (John Silver, Alex Reynolds and Preston "10" Vance) def. Fodder, JR Miller and Brandon ScottVance needed something to erase the memory of last week's awful match on Dark against that joke of a wrestler Leroy Patterson. If you haven't seen it, don't go out of your way to watch it unless you want to be embarrassed to be a wrestling fan. This served as a solid showcase for three of the Dark Order guys. Thankfully, they won, unlike the other three who wrestled later in the show. This was short, sweet, and exactly what it needed to be. Thunder Rosa def. Dani MoRosa has her AEW TBS Women's Championship Tournament semifinal match coming up on Wednesday's Dynamite against Jade Cargill, so this gave her a last-minute momentum boost before then. She made quick work of Mo by beating her in under two minutes, as she should have. Cargill stared her down from the stage afterward. I'm sticking with Cargill winning against Rosa only to lose to Ruby Soho in the finals. Cargill should hold gold down the road, but not right now. Anthony Ogogo def. Duncan MitchellI lost a lot of respect for Ogogo when he got into that unnecessary Twitter beef with ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham, taking shots at him for no reason. He has shown signs of potential and I want to see him do well despite how rough that rivalry with Cody Rhodes was earlier this year, but not if he's going to act like a prick. I'd say that's why he's being booked on the Dark shows and not on TV, but that was the case even before all that drama happened. Nonetheless, this was total domination from him. Santana and Ortiz def. Movie Myk and Alexander MossSeriously, what the hell is going on with Santana and Ortiz? I appreciate that they're appearing somewhere on AEW programming, but they're barely on Dynamite and Rampage and have lost virtually all of the momentum they had from beating FTR over the summer. I know only so many teams can be in the AEW World Tag Team Championship picture at one time, but they should be doing something of note as these squashes got old a while ago. This was your typical enhancement match with nothing else out of the ordinary about it. Shawn Spears def. Lee MoriartyAEW's booking is bizarre to me sometimes. For example, Moriarty took CM Punk (yes, CM Punk) to the limit no more than a month ago on Dynamite. The company followed that up by having him get tossed from the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal almost immediately like a bum and that was it. Why not have him capitalize on that performance by embarking on a winning streak? Spears is as boring as they come and honestly shouldn't be prioritized over Moriarty in my opinion, but this was well wrestled while it lasted. Gunn Club (Billy, Austin and Colten Club) def. The Dark Order (Alan "5" Angels, Evil Uno and Stu Grayson)I will never get over the fact that Dark Order literally beat The Elite in a multi-man tag team main event two months ago on Dynamite and now they're losing to Gunn Club on Elevation. I know Dark Order are supposed to be lovable losers, but that's pretty bad. As a match, this was perfectly fine. They kept the pace consistent throughout and Gunn Club are mostly decent in the ring. I just don't know what AEW's infatuation is with pushing them as I don't understand the appeal or what they bring to the table compared to other teams/stables. Tay Conti and Anna Jay def. Diamante and Emi SakuraConti and Jay have been treading water for the better part of the past month, but at least Conti got to (seemingly) finish her feud with Penelope Ford last week on Rampage. Jay, on the other hand, has been directionless. This was a quality contest while it lasted and I'm glad Conti and Jay got to beat some legitimate competition for a change. Sakura doesn't do much for me, but I'd like for Diamante to become more of a regular on the Dark shows again. Matt Hardy def. Darius LockheartI appreciate that Hardy went at it alone here and didn't have any of his H.F.O. goofs in his corner. That's likely because Hardy is a North Carolina native and that's where this show emanated from, hence why he was booked like a babyface for a change. It was also a sweet spot for Lockheart to be in because he has stood out to me and he got to shine in defeat, so hopefully we get to see more of him (and less of H.F.O.) in the future. Overall ShowThere were a few more matches on this edition of Elevation than usual, but it still went about 45 minutes. Truth be told, that's all that matters to be. A show like this going over an hour is not needed. Some of these matches were competitive, but none of them were remotely memorable. Hardy getting the singles spotlight in the main event in his home state was cool and the rest of the show was a breeze, so it was an easy episode to digest with very little to complain about.
