Matt Sydal and Lee Moriarty def. Marcus Kross and JR MillerTruth be told, I totally forgot Sydal and Moriarty had an alliance until they appeared at Battle of the Belts. They can be a fun little team, but they don't appear on AEW programming nearly as much as they should. This gave them a chance to show off their chemistry as a duo and pick up a much-needed win. Moriarty in particular should be spotlighted more considering he took CM Punk not too long ago on Dynamite. Tay Conti def. AmeeraBased on what went down last week on Dynamite, it looks like Conti might be headed for a feud with Serena Deeb now that Hikaru Shida will be gone for a little while and I'm all for it. Conti continues to connect with crowds really well and is only getting better in the ring. Ameera didn't have much of a chance to do anything because this was so short, but it should have been all about Conti, anyway. Gunn Club (Colten and Austin Gunn) def. JB Cole and T.I.M.It's funny how Colten and Austin are running with the "Ass Boys" gimmick even though I'm pretty positive it came from Danhausen. It gives them more heat, but I absolutely do not want that to be Danhausen's first feud when he inevitably joins the company. Gunn Club are gradually growing on me as heels. Their matches are nothing out of the ordinary, but their shtick is clicking better than it was before. This was decent for what it was. Frankie Kazarian def. LaBron KozoneI feel like we haven't seen Kazarian in action at all as of late. He had a fine thing going as "The Elite Hunter" coming out of the SCU breakup, but that obviously ran its course and he's bene left with nothing to do. I know he's not a guy that needs to be prioritized over the rest of the roster, but it's a shame he's barely being used. I'm honestly surprised his contract was presumably picked up again assuming it expired at the beginning of the month. This was a solid squash for him with Kozone scoring more offense than I was expecting. Ruby Soho def. Kenzie PaigeSoho definitely needed this singles win after falling short of becoming AEW TBS Champion two weeks ago. As I've said before, I honestly don't know where she goes from here. If all she does is rack up wins on Dark and Elevation, that's not going to cut it. It's acceptable for now, though. Paige has appeared on NWA programming a handful of times in recent months and is impressive. She had a nice showing before eating defeat. Private Party def. Chase Emory and Patrick ScottThis desperately needs to be the year that Private Party get back on track after such a disappointing 2021. I'm likely among the few people who feel the heel pairing with Matt Hardy has/had potential, but it's done nothing but kill any momentum they had and make them just another team in the division. Much like Santana and Ortiz with Inner Circle, they need to branch off on their own as soon as possible. This was what it needed to be. Jay Lethal def. Alexander MossA majority of Lethal's matches so far in AEW have taken place on either Dark or Elevation. It's better than not featuring him at all, but they really need to get him going on Dynamite or Rampage. I know he recently resurfaced by helping Dante Martin defeat Powerhouse Hobbs, but I can't say it gets me too excited. On the bright side, he had a fun outing here. I wouldn't have had Moss kicking out of his diving elbow, but this was a nice little sprint otherwise. Overall ShowI always appreciate it whenever these shows are kept on the shorter side and feature between six to eight matches. This edition of Elevation fell in that category as several stars were showcased and nothing went longer than it needed to. My only nitpick is that we were deprived of a truly competitive match this week as everything was essentially a squash. You aren't missing anything by missing this show, but if you do tune in, at least it breezes by.
