Thunder Rosa def. Leila GreyOne of the biggest issue with Rosa's matches a few months ago was that they went longer than they needed to, at least whenever she was facing unknown talent. I realize Grey has appeared on and off for AEW on the Dark shows, but there was no reason for her to take Rosa to the limit here and thus I'm happy she didn't. Rather, this was a quick squash win for Rosa as she's slowly gets built up for an opportunity at the AEW Women's World Championship. Scorpio Sky def. Marcus KrossI've seen Kross in action before in Ring of Honor. He's always been skilled in the ring, but obviously, it was the wacky hair that made me remember him. He had one or two hope spots here, but otherwise, it was all about Sky as it should have been. Ethan Page was funny on commentary as well. He's gearing up for his Coffin match with Darby Allin that was randomly bumped from Road Rager to another week. Hikaru Shida def. Dani JordynI honestly didn't expect this to be as competitive as it was, but I'm glad Jordyn was able to score as much offense as she did. Jordyn has been brought in a bunch of times during the pandemic, has been impressive and has had a presence about her that has helped her stand out among the rest of the independent wrestlers AEW uses on these shows. It wasn't the smoothest encounter, but I appreciated that Jordan got to look credible in defeat. Orange Cassidy def. AngelicoBest Friends' latest feud being with the H.F.O. doesn't exactly excite me as it feels like they were put together to give them all something to do, but I suppose it's something. Cassidy and Kris Statlander will be squaring off with The Blade and The Bunny at Road Rager, so this served as a warm-up of sorts for Cassidy before then. They had a nice little match and the crowd was super into Cassidy, who is clearly still very much over. Serena Deeb def. Tesha PriceAnyone notice how Deeb has been more aggressive since returning to the ring? I mean, that finisher where she bangs her opponent's knee on the mat relentlessly is brutal. I don't think she's supposed to be a heel either based on promos I've seen from her in the NWA. Hopefully she stays the babyface route because her against Britt Baker for the title at some point would be a blast. This was a good match while it lasted with Deeb on offense for a majority of it before putting Price away in a matter of minutes. Dante Martin def. SerpenticoI've said it a million times already and I'll say it again: Luther's screeching is absolutely unbearable to listen to at ringside. I'm glad it was Serpentico in the ring and not Luther, but Luther shouldn't have been at ringside at all. This match didn't exactly feel like main event material, especially compared to Cassidy vs. Angelico from earlier in the episode, but it was a well-wrestled affair as their styles meshed nicely together. It you're a spot-fest fan, this will be for you. Martin's finisher looked cool, too. When Chaos Project teamed up on him afterward, I was hoping his brother Darius would come out and we'd finally get that Top Flight reunion, but it was Matt Sydal who made the save instead. Yes, it made sense because of the matches they've had recently and Sydal gaining respect for Martin, but I will admit that I was slightly disappointed it wasn't Darius. Overall ShowAlex Marvez attempted to interview Joey Janela at ringside at one point to no avail. He asked him a few questions, and instead of responding, Janela simply said he was frustrated and walked off. We'll likely hear more from him on The Waiting Room with Britt Baker on Tuesday's Dark. Nonetheless, six matches in a 43-minute show? What did I do to deserve this?! And I mean that in the best way possible. Far too often are these shows over-bloated with squash matches and matches that quite frankly shouldn't be happening, so it was refreshing to have a shorter show this week with six matches that did matter. Having a live crowd in attendance added to my enjoyment of it as well.
