Jon Moxley def. Jay White and Swerve Strickland in the Continental Classic Gold League FinalsWhite was my pick to win, but that obviously didn't happen. Moxley's a fine choice and I'm content with Strickland not making it to the finals because he's above that belt (belts?), anyway. He'll be facing Keith Lee at Worlds End instead in a match many months too late. This was a hell of an opener that got plenty of time. I appreciated Strickland not eating the pinfall loss, but I have no idea what Strickland does from here. Riho Interrupted Renee Paquette's Interview with Mariah May and Attacked AEW Women's World Champion Toni StormMay announced that she will finally make her AEW in-ring debut on next week's Dynamite. She has played her role really well so far and I think she'll be a nice addition to the division in 2024. The stuff with Riho and Storm was short and simple as needed. I don't see Riho as a legitimate threat to the title, but they've done an effective job building up the bout and I'm sure they'll deliver given what they're both capable of. Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin and Sting Attacked The Don Callis Family and AEW World Tag Team Champions Ricky Starks and Big BillMan, this segment was all over the place. Don Callis giving each member of his group personal paintings was random because they haven't been prominently featured on Dynamite in a while, and then Guevara randomly returned to turn babyface yet again. Sting and Allin helping out Jericho and Guevara was even more random because those teams feuded earlier this year. What a giant mess. At least this set up Jericho, Guevara, Sting and Allin against Kyle Fletcher, Powerhouse Hobbs, Starks and Bill at Worlds End. ROH World Champion and NJPW Strong Openweight Champion Eddie Kingston def. Bryan Danielson in the Continental Classic Blue League Finals (Non-Title)This was every bit as great as their previous encounters. Kingston had yet to beat Danielson and it made sense for him to finally do so here. It could have gone either way, but it's definitely been longer since we last saw Kingston vs. Moxley, not to mention the issue between Kingston and Moxley from earlier this year was never resolved. I really liked they we got to hear from both guys afterward as they cut excellent promos to sell viewers on the Continental Classic finals. Skye Blue def. Kris StatlanderThe commentators mentioned halfway through that Statlander hasn't been pinned in over 18 months. That should have been enough of an indicator that she was losing here. Blue loses a lot and needs more meaningful wins, so I can't say I'm too upset by the outcome. It was a well-worked match (from what we were able to see, anyway). Post-match, Willow Nightingale saved Statlander from Blue and Julia Hart, so we'll probably get that tag team match after Hart beats Abadon at Worlds End. On a side note, I honestly have no clue why Stokley Hathaway was on commentary for this. The Devil's Masked Men def. AEW World Champion MJF in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match to Win the ROH World Tag Team ChampionshipYou had to know this would be an angle when it started so close to the end of the show. Joe was shown laid out in the back (similar to MJF a few weeks ago), so MJF went at it alone. I realized the masked men cheated, but this whole thing was ridiculous and it was definitely dumb that the AEW World Champion was pinned by some random dude in a matter of minutes. The only aspect of this I did like was Joe revealing he's been in cahoots with The Devil and attacking MJF afterward. Unfortunately, that probably means he's not winning the title on Saturday. Overall ShowIt was advertised that Adam Copeland and Christian Cage would have a sit-down interview together backstage, but Copeland brawled with Christian before it could happen. They've said everything there is to say at this point, so that was arguably the best approach they could have taken to hype their upcoming match. The two Continental Classic matches really carried this otherwise mediocre go-home show. As expected, more matches were added to the Worlds End card, and although it should be another strong show from an in-ring standpoint, I can't help but feel a lot of the build has felt rushed. There hasn't been much that's must-see about Dynamite other than the Continental Classic for the last month, so I'm very curious what the program looks like starting next week.
