AEW World Tag Team Champions The Lucha Brothers def. FTRThis was originally supposed to happen last week, but Rey Fenix had travel issues (thankfully he isn't injured as I initially feared). It was going to be a two-out-of-three falls match, so I don't know why they dropped the stipulation here. Otherwise, this was as entertaining as I hoped it would be. It took a bit for them get going, but once they did, they worked a strong second half and had the crowd buying into some of the nearfalls. This felt like the payoff to the program and now both teams can move on to new opponents. Nyla Rose, The Bunny and Penelope Ford def. Ruby Soho, Tay Conti and Anna JayThis stemmed from that stupid backstage segment on Wednesday's Dynamite where Conti and Jay made the save for Soho from Rose, Bunny and Ford. This did what it needed to do as far as building toward Soho vs. Rose in the next round of the AEW TBS Women's Championship Tournament, but the actual match was nothing worth writing home about. In fact, it was subpar quality. Rose winning should mean that Soho beats her when they eventually go one-on-one. Hook def. Fuego Del SolI know I'm very much in the minority on this, but I never understood the internet's fascination with Hook leading up to this show. There was a ton of hype surrounding his in-ring debut and I must admit that he delivered. You can tell he's been working with Taz because some of those suplexes were shades of his father, along with the Tazmission. This was certainly a success and Fuego was the perfect person for Hook to beat. Adam Cole def. Wheeler YutaI don't think anyone actually thought Yuta had a chance against Cole, but Yuta is one of those talented up-and-comers that consistently looks good in defeat and this was another example of that. They had a perfectly well-wrestled match, though it didn't really feel like a main event. The Elite (and Bobby Fish) left Best Friends laying afterward, so this feels like an eight-man tag team match is coming between these two factions sooner rather than later. Overall ShowNeedless to say, the tag team title match was the real main event of this show, but I understand AEW wanting it to open the episode because it was a taped show and the crowd was more exhausted by the end. All in all, this was a thumbs-up show. Lucha Brothers vs. FTR was excellent, the main event was enjoyable, and Hook wrestling his first match. The women's matchup was a bit of a mess, but at least the good outweighed the bad on this edition of Rampage.
