Claudio Castagnoli def. Mexican National Tag Team Champion RugidoThis was a part of CMLL's feud with Blackpool Combat Club, even though it seems to be put on pause right now in AEW so Castagnoli and Jon Moxley can feud with FTR. As I said again in my review of Wednesday's Dynamite, I have no idea what CMLL is getting out of this partnership with AEW other than exposure. The matches largely mean nothing. This was well wrestled, but it really didn't need to last as long as it did, especially since it had nothing to do with Revolution. Lance Archer and The Righteous def. Anaya, Luke Langley and VaughtI like the trio of Archer and The Righteous and I have since they first formed, but they appear together so infrequently that it's difficult to take them seriously as any sort of a threat, not to mention that the AEW World Trios Championship is being held hostage in that terrible Bang Bang Scissor Gang crap currently. This was a simple squash to showcase Archer's dominance ahead of his involvement in the All-Star Scramble match on Sunday night. Riho def. Trish AdoraWhat a random match, especially with both women being babyfaces. I totally forgot Riho was on the roster as we haven't seen her on AEW programming since she lost to Toni Storm at Worlds End. She and Adora had a very nice match here in the time they were allotted. Riho usually returns with a purpose, so it will be interesting to see if she's back to challenge Julia Hart for the AEW TBS Championship soon or for another reason. Mexican National Tag Team Champion Magnus def. Matt Sydal to Qualify for the All-Star Scramble Match at RevolutionNo, Nick Aldis didn't leave WWE, join AEW and win a title in CMLL (I know that was a lame joke but I still associate the Magnus name with Aldis after all these years). Magnus is a member of the CMLL roster, and now he'll be competing at Revolution in the All-Star Scramble match. Obviously, he won't win, but I will say that he was impressive here and he had a fun outing against Sydal. The CMLL stuff does nothing for me, but at least this had stakes. Overall ShowThe main event was made more meaningful by a spot in the All-Star Scramble match being on the line, but otherwise, this was a very ho-hum edition of Rampage. The show is typically skippable, but that was certainly the case this week. The first three matches didn't serve an important purpose and the in-ring action wasn't strong enough on the whole to go out of your way to check out. The Revolution hype special that aired afterward is probably worth watching more than this was.
