CMLL World Historic Middleweight Champion Mistico def. CMLL World Historic Welterweight Champion Rocky Romero (Non-Title)Romero just won the MLW World Middleweight Championship at last weekend's Slaughterhouse event, but unsurprisingly, he didn't bring that belt with him here. Rather, the focus was fully on the new AEW-CMLL partnership. They had a really fun match and I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Mistico following the strong showing he had here. It was contested under two-out-of-three-falls rules, which I believe is the norm for CMLL. John Silver def. Brother Zay and Kip Sabian in an AEW International Championship No. 1 Contender's Three-Way MatchI have zero interest in any of these three challenging for the International title because there's zero chance they actually take the title. That said, this was fine for what it was and they made the most of the time they had. Silver's obviously talented, so I'm sure he and Orange Cassidy will have a quality contest, but AEW really needs to do a better job of building to the matches made for the Battle of the Belts specials instead setting stuff up at the last minute. Blackpool Combat Club (Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli) def. "The Bounty Hunter" Bryan Keith and Exodus PrimeIt's already been announced that Yuta and Castagnoli will challenge Ricky Starks and Big Bill for the AEW World Tag Team Championship on Saturday's Collision, so this served as a quick showcase for them before then. They won in quick and decision fashion here, so it was what it needed to be. We've seen Keith in action before on AEW TV and I've heard nothing but positive things about his work, so I hope we get to see more of him in the future. Ruby Soho def. Skye BlueI wish there was a reason established for why this match happened. Sure, Blue has been an enemy of The Outcasts since the beginning of the year, but at this point, Soho and Blue are having matches with each other for the sake of doing so. Blue has been showing more heelish tendencies lately, but she was firmly in babyface mode here. It was an odd dynamic yet a good main event. Kris Statlander attempted to aid Blue against The Outcasts afterward, but Blue wanted no part of it. Overall ShowMistico vs. Romero was the big attraction from this episode and it delivered. Nothing else mattered much, including the number one contender's three-way match. The Blackpool Combat Club squash served its purpose and the main event was well worked, so it was an adequate hour of wrestling on the whole. Rampage continues to largely feel like a setup show for Collision the next night.
