By Thomas Brunt When it was clear John Cena's WrestleMania status was in question, plans called for some change, since he wouldn't be able to wrestle the rumored match with the Undertaker on the grandest stage of them all. The lack of super stardom and enthusiasm for an anticipated headliner constrained Vince McMahon to realize totally new possibilities, to think outside the box. Shane McMahon's return to WWE, even if only for WrestleMania certainly adds some interest back to the event. It should be expressed however, just a restricted measure of interest in light of the fact that the streak is no more alive.

By RJ Marceau It has been announced that Becky Lynch will face Sasha Banks on Raw to be the #1 contender for the Divas Championship at WrestleMania. The WWE has a unique opportunity to propel this division to another level by having Sasha Banks face Becky Lynch in the main event slot of Monday Night Raw. The other main matches for WrestleMania have a part timer so it’s not like a showdown or confrontation between the opponents wouldn’t be feasible or necessary. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Summer Rae def. Alicia Fox When was the last time anyone cut a promo on Superstars before their match? Summer running down Fox on the mic was a refreshing change of pace and what she said was actually somewhat truthful. Okay, so maybe not the part about Summer bringing change to the Divas division, but definitely the part about about the "Divas Revolution" and the massive flop that it was. The match wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but it's great to see Summer back in the ring after all this time. I have referred to her as damaged goods in the past based off how she has been booked in recent years, but there is hope for her yet as a wrestler. Stardust def. Zack Ryder These two have had no less than a dozen matches in recent memory and I'm desperately waiting for something new. At the very least, they work extremely well together and their matches are always enjoyable. This "feud" would mean more if the commentators acknowledged how they have been trading wins, but since that was never brought up, this felt like just another outing. If WWE plans on doing Stardust vs. Stephen Amell at WrestleMania, they are going to have to start building Stardust up now, otherwise no one will care. By Graham "GSM" Matthews ROH World Television Champion Tomohiro Ishii def. Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish in a Triple Threat Match I was completely unaware that Ishii had won the TV title until he came out wearing the belt. Strong was champion as of Wednesday's edition of ROH TV, and while I realize that was taped earlier in the month, I was slightly surprised they went with the title change knowing they already had weeks of TV in the can with Strong as champ. That might have messed with my enjoyment of the bout just a bit, but the Triple Threat wasn't anything special anyway, or at least not as special as it could have been given the combatants. Perhaps they could have benefited from more time, but nothing about the match stood out to me after watching it. BJ Whitmer def. Adam Page It's quickly becoming clear to me that Whitmer attracts the wrong kind of heat as a heel. The crowd crapped all over this match and not in a way where they wanted to see Whitmer get his ass handed to him. They simply didn't care. They got behind Page whenever he took a risk, but that was about it. As a result, I sat on my hands for the match (watching from my laptop, of course). ROH made an effort to make casual viewers care about the feud in recent weeks, but to no avail. The real rivalry is between Whitmer and Steve Corino, but even that feels played out by this point. By RJ Marceau I was a casual viewer of Lucha Underground Season 1 but it wasn’t till the recent season of Lucha Underground that I have become a weekly viewer of the show. So far in Season 2 there have been five episodes and if you aren’t watching I would definitely recommend the product especially since it’s only a one hour show. I don’t have the El Rey Network here at school but you can access the show online. At first I will admit it was hard to get invested in a product of people I didn’t really know. Over the first five episodes I have started connecting with the program and in this article I will reveal my Top 3 Favorite Lucha Underground Wrestlers. |
