RJ’s Two Cents - Why Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks Should Main Event Raw

It has been announced that Becky Lynch will face Sasha Banks on Raw to be the #1 contender for the Divas Championship at WrestleMania. The WWE has a unique opportunity to propel this division to another level by having Sasha Banks face Becky Lynch in the main event slot of Monday Night Raw.

The other main matches for WrestleMania have a part timer so it’s not like a showdown or confrontation between the opponents wouldn’t be feasible or necessary.

1. Redefining the division

We all know the WWE screwed up the Divas Revolution with only Charlotte getting anything out of the whole movement. The WWE has been focusing on the youth recently especially with Becky Lynch, Charlotte and Sasha Banks being featured on WWE TV weekly. At WrestleMania 32, it’s reported to feature two diva contests with one for the WWE Divas title and then a multi-women match. The WWE would be wise to have a Divas battle royal with a future title shot on the line. Even though I want the Diva’s title match to be a Triple Threat with Becky vs. Charlotte vs. Sasha it seems like the WWE will do Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte in a one on one match.

Since the injection of the NXT women and focusing on the individuals and not the faction wars, the WWE Universe has gotten behind the Irish Lass Kicker more then any other WWE Diva. The WWE Universe is behind Sasha Banks but she isn’t even remotely close to how over she was when the Diva’s Revolution started. The WWE has invested a lot of time in these three women over the past 6 months so featuring them in the main event of Raw is well deserved.

2. Match Quality

The bout these two women had at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable was amazing and if given 15-20 minutes to end Raw they could put on an amazing contest. This would show the casual fan and the avid fans that they are behind this division and are willing to feature them in prime time slots. Both these women are phenomenal in ring talents so if the WWE gives them the proper time they can electrify.

The booking decision I would take is have a great back and forth match for 15-20 minutes with Charlotte interfering. She thinks she has outsmarted them and that since neither woman had won then she doesn’t have an opponent for WrestleMania 32. Stephanie McMahon comes out still fuming over the Shane 'O Mac drama and says Charlotte you will now face Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 32 and Ric Flair is banned from ringside.

I am big fan of Becky so I have biased saying that she should win at WrestleMania 32 because she could then defend against Charlotte and after feud with Sasha. If Sasha wins after Charlotte, who does she face, Paige? Nothing against the anti-diva but she has been in the Divas title picture almost the whole time since being called up two years ago.

Becky deserves a title that she didn’t get in NXT and the future of the WWE is bright for Sasha Banks. I like both these women but I think Sasha has that Dean Ambrose factor with the crowd that if she doesn’t win right now they will still support her but if Becky keeps losing she will be another woman wrestler on the roster.
