Pre-Show: Yuya Uemura def. Gabriel KiddI'm not familiar with Kidd at all, but I thought he had a solid showing. I'm much more familiar with Uemura from the time he's spent in IMPACT over the last year and he's always impressive. He lacks direction, but at least he isn't consistently booked like a loser. This was a serviceable match to set the tone for the rest of the night. There was nothing out of the ordinary about it, so I had no issue with it being positioned on the pre-show.

Dana Brooke def. Elektra LopezLopez is far from ready for a main roster call-up, so I was slightly surprised she popped up on Main Event. I realize they're not calling up everyone who appears on Main Event, but let's just say there was a reason Zelina Vega replaced her in Legado del Fantasma last fall. She still needs a lot of work. I feared the worst when I saw she was facing Brooke, but this ended up being perfectly passable for the time it was allotted.
Hirorshi Tanahashi def. Lance Archer to Win the IWGP United States Heavyweight ChampionshipThis was from New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Emergence event from August 2021. I didn't watch that show, so this was fresh for me. I completely forgot that Archer was the IWGP United States Heavyweight champion at the time and even beat Jon Moxley for the belt in the main event of AEW Dynamite that summer. Tanahashi's obviously a legend and Archer is skilled in his own right, so this was an enjoyable affair. It served as a small preview of what to expect when Tanahashi faces Mike Bailey at Multiverse United.
Aussie Open def. Varsity Athletes (Tony Nese and Ari Daivari)Is Daivari officially a part of Varsity Athletes? I assume The Trustbusters are still a thing, and if so, that's confusing. Either way, they weren't the focus here. Aussie Open was. They'll be a part of the Reach for the Sky Ladder match for the vacant ROH World Tag Team Championship at Supercard of Honor, so this was a warm-up of sorts for them. I would've preferred for Aussie Open to completely squash the boring Varsity Athletes, but that's just me.
