![]() By CJ Blaze The show starts with a video package advertising the main event for tonight: Big E Langston defending his NXT Title against Damien Sandow! Natalya vs. Summer Rae This week’s diva’s match was physical and full of submission holds. I love seeing people from the main roster come to NXT and work with the developmental talent. Summer will, one day, become the Diva’s Champion sooner than later. Winner: Summer Rae - by pinfall -Renee Young interviewed Sami Zayn, the former El Generico, about his debut match next week against Curt Hawkins.

![]() Lame segment to kick off the show featuring Chris Jericho and Fandango. I wasn't looking forward to the dance-off to begin with, so I wasn't distraught that it never actually happened. However, it felt like it dragged on longer than it should and didn't excite this viewer in the slightest. It's nice to see Summer Rae develop a personality, but she was the only thing that was worth watching about this opening segment. Basic squash match with Ryback defeating Zack Ryder. It was a nice momentum booster for Ryback, but it didn't accomplish much more than that. The match was over within a blink of an eye, but at least they switched things up by giving us a bout we've never seen before. On a side note, I can't say I'm a fan of Ryder's new attire, but I appreciate the effort he's putting into reinventing himself. Meaningless match between The Prime Time Players and Tons of Funk. While I'm glad to see Darren Young and Titus O'Neil emerge victorious, the win doesn't do much for them. They've lost so many matches in recent months that it's difficult to envision them as threats to the tag team titles. Neither tandem is relevant at the moment, so I fail to see what the point of this contest was. Nice match between United States Champion Kofi Kingston and Damien Sandow. It's a shame that Sandow is being utilized as a jobber to the stars at the moment, but at least his pre-match promos are consistently entertaining. The two made the most out of the time they were given and developed some fun chemistry with one another. Kingston's victory was a forgone conclusion, but it helped establish his title defense against Dean Ambrose at Extreme Rules. Effective segment featuring Mark Henry and Sheamus. Both guys played their roles and added intensity to this feud for the first time since it started. Henry didn't lose much by running away from Sheamus, as he was the one who made the challenge in the first place. The feud up to this point has been terribly built, but thankfully this segment was enough to make me believe that the Strap match on Sunday could very well be decent. Brief match between Randy Orton and Antonio Cesaro. These two just had a match against one another on WWE Main Event five days prior, so why bother having an unnecessary rematch the following week? Not only that, but we've seen this match countless times before, so it was much of the same from Orton and Cesaro. It was only a week ago that Cesaro looked to be headed on the right track, but it sadly seems as if he's back to being an enhancement talent for the time being. ![]() Good segment to kick off the show with Ryback joining Chris Jericho on The Highlight Reel. Ryback has struggled to garner heat as a heel up to this point, but Jericho was the perfect face for him to work with. It's not often that Jericho brings out his serious side, so it was nice to see Y2J treat Ryback like an actual threat unlike John Cena has in recent weeks. Both guys played their roles well and showcased solid mic work that set their stage for their main event match later in the evening. Fun match between United States Champion Kofi Kingston and Cody Rhodes. Aside from the fact the match was given only mere minutes, they made the most out of the time they were allotted. The final few minutes were nicely paced and led to a cool finish. Kingston and Rhodes work well together and I would like to see a future feud between the two for the U.S. title at some point down the line. Solid segment between World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger and Alberto Del Rio. I was glad the match between Swagger and Big E Langston never got started, as it wouldn't have made much sense with both guys being heels. Nonetheless, the subsequent brawl between the three competitors in the World title match at Extreme Rules was well executed. Del Rio getting the upper hand over Swagger and Ziggler doesn't bother me in the slightest, as Del Rio should be made out to look like a credible challenger going into the event. Excellent match with Dean Ambrose defeating WWE Tag Team Champion Daniel Bryan by disqualification. As expected, the two instantly clicked when they locked up in the squared circle and put on an absolute clinic. Bryan and Ambrose have faced one another in the past, but with this being their first match together in WWE, it certainly felt like it was something special. The disqualification loss protected Bryan and Kofi Kingston's interference foreshadowed an exciting six-man tag team match at Extreme Rules. ![]() By CJ Blaze This week’s show starts with a video previewing tonight’s Tag Team title match: Neville and Bo Dallas vs. The Wyatt Family. Damien Sandow vs. Baron Corbin I’m not for sure why Sandow was featured on here, as he should be going after the World title on the main roster. I don’t have much to comment on for this match because it was a flat out squash! But, this does lead to something bigger... Winner: Damien Sandow - by pinfall -In a backstage segment, Sandow confronted Big E Langston about an NXT title match. ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Intriguing opening segment featuring Sting, Kurt Angle and AJ Styles. Most people assumed Styles would be the third man in the six-man tag team match, so it was nice to see Sting and Angle make the offer only for Styles to refuse. Styles continues to be one of the best booked acts in TNA at the moment, so I'm glad he has yet to pick a side. His brawl with Angle leads me to believe that those two might be feuding with one another going forward. Although their matches are always excellent, it's hard to get excited about a feud we've seen countless times before. Nice tag team match with Knockouts Champion Velvet Sky and Mickie James defeating Gail Kim and Tara. The action was fine for what it was, but it definitely could have gone longer than three minutes given the star power involved. I was expecting tension to be teased between Sky and James at some point in the bout, but it ended being between Tara and Kim instead. However, I'm not complaining, Kim's attack on Tara was well done and a logical way of writing her off television if she is indeed taking time off for the foreseeable future. |
