Matanza Cueto def. Dragon Azteca Jr. in a Steel Cage MatchI've never been the biggest fan of either of these guys, but this was an enjoyable opener to the show. The David vs. Goliath dynamic they had going enhanced the story of the matchup for me and Matanza tossing Azteca through the cage wall was absolutely awesome. Unfortunately, even in Lucha Underground, people manage to get involved in Steel Cage matches, and in this instance, it was the returning Black Lotus, who we haven't seen in many months. She not only did she cost Azteca the match but she also attacked Matanza afterward and called out Dario Cueto for being a liar. Dario admitted to lying to her about who killed her parents (or something like that) before having Matanza lay her out. Thus, that was a fitting way to conclude that story. Mil Muertes def. Cage and Jeremiah Crane in a Three-Way Elimination Match for the Gauntlet of the GodsThis was an all-out war as Muertes, Cage and Crage beat the holy hell out of each other and utilized the extreme environment nicely. All three men put forth an exceptional effort and the audience ate up everything they did. It didn't really matter who won, but it was a good win for Muertes before he was ambushed by King Cuerno, who I could have sworn left the show since we hadn't seen him since Ultima Lucha Dos I don't think.

Ember Moon def. Ruby Riot and Sonya Deville in an NXT Women's Championship Qualifying Triple Threat MatchI enjoyed this a bit more than the Triple Threat match from last week, especially any interaction between Moon and Riot. They're two of the better wrestlers in NXT's women's division, so they worked well together whenever they faced off. Deville isn't there quite yet, but she had a solid showing here and was protected in defeat by not being pinned. Moon was the most logical choice of the three to advance given TakeOver: War Games will emanate from her home state of Texas and that could be where she finally wins the NXT Women's Championship. Aleister Black def. Raul MendozaBlack's TV matches have become one of my favorite parts of NXT because he never ceases to deliver. Meanwhile, Mendoza has been a blast to watch in his handful of appearances on NXT TV, so it was no surprise he and Black contested a fun match here. The outcome was never in question, of course, but Black's feud with The Velveteen Dream was furthered with Dream taunting Black from ringside throughout the bout.
#AskGSM Edition #203: Nia Jax's WWE Status, TLC 2017 Preview, Jinder Mahal vs. John Cena, More10/18/2017 #AskGSM is a weekly Q&A video where I, Graham "GSM" Matthews answer fan questions from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in regards to the world of wrestling. Nothing is off limits, and this week’s edition touches upon a variety of topics including:
KUSHIDA def. Scorpio Sky by DisqualificationIt's nice to see KUSHIDA sticking around in ROH despite recently losing the ROH World Television Championship to Kenny King at Death Before Dishonor. It would be cool if they collided in a rematch for the title, but there was no mention of that during this match. It was a fun outing for KUSHIDA, but before he could score the victory, The Addiction crashed the contest and laid out KUSHIDA, continuing their storyline where they're wreaking havoc across the company. ROH World Champion Cody def. CheeseburgerBefore the bout, Cody (accompanied by the rest of The Bullet Club) signed his new "exclusive" Ring of Honor contract, so he came across like a major deal here. You had to know he was going to defend his title against a jobber, and you had to know said jobber wouldn't win, but this was still very well done with the nearfalls and Cheeseburger getting his time to shine. In the time, Cody was the ultimate heel by throwing his jacket in Cheeseburger's face before retaining the title.
