Aliyah, Sasha Banks and Naomi def. Natalya, Shotzi and Shayna BaszlerSonya Deville held a summit of sorts beforehand addressing SmackDown's women's Survivor Series team before Naomi came down to the ring to brawl with her and then all hell broke loose. This six-woman tag team match was set up after the commercial break. It was decent while it lasted and Aliyah got her moment in the end. I complain quite a bit about WWE's refusal to make new stars, and while Aliyah is a fresh face, she just isn't very good. She was also taken off the team right after this by Deville, which I see as an improvement honestly. Los Lotharios def. Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick BoogsNakamura's booking has been bizarre lately. First of all, he lost to Happy Corbin one-on-one three weeks ago. The following week, he and Boogs lost a tag team match to Corbin and Madcap Moss following interference from Los Lotharios. Nakamura and Boogs weren't even on the show last week but returned this week to lose to Los Loatharios. Worse yet, it was Nakamura who was pinned and he's the Intercontinental Champion. I understand Angel and Humberto (yes, their names have officially been shortened) are the legitimate team of the two, but I still wouldn't have done that. The match was short and sweet, but the booking is baffling to me. SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair Denied Toni Storm's ChallengeIt's about damn time Storm resurfaced on the show. I don't think she's made a single appearance since she lost in the first round of the Queen's Crown tournament to Zelina Vega over a month ago. She has been completely wasted since coming up to the main roster, so hopefully this was a sign that they intend to use her a bit more and may even do her and Flair in a title program coming out of Survivor Series. What we got from them on the mic here was solid, but I'm sure they're capable of better. Jeff Hardy def. Sami ZaynThe loser was to be removed from SmackDown's men's Survivor Series team. Deville and Adam Pearce said it was in an effort to make the team stronger, and if the idea is to replace him with NXT's Von Wagner (who was featured in that same segment backstage), I'm not sure how that makes sense in the slightest. On the bright side, they had a good match here and the Norfolk crowd was wildly behind Hardy. Can we seriously start to push this man toward the Universal Championship picture soon? Please? King Woods def. Universal Champion Roman Reigns by Disqualification (Non-Title)I don't think enough people are talking about how 2021 has been Woods' year. I realize he won King of the Ring recently, but he was having a great year even prior to that and has taken several top talents to their limit in singles matches. That was once again the case here, and let the record show that he is the only person to score any sort of victory over Reigns in one-on-one action since his return last year. Granted, it was by disqualification and not by pinfall, but it still counts for something. Why anybody would buy into the stipulation when they didn't deliver on it last week is beyond me, but it was an entertaining main event while it lasted and I hope they go back to it soon. The Day 1 pay-per-view is a ways off, but it's a possibility. Overall ShowIt still amazes me that WWE decided to wait until two weeks out from Survivor Series to start promoting the pay-per-view. If you want to know what they think of the show, then there you go. Replacing Zayn on the men's team with someone such as Wagner (if that's where this is go) is illogical, though Aliyah being bumped from the female SmackDown team could be a positive. The Reigns and Woods angle once again carried the show, but I enjoyed Hardy vs. Zayn and the crowd was extra hot tonight. The head-scratching booking decisions with the women's division, Zayn's removal, and Nakamura eating an unnecessary pin significantly hurt the episode, though.
