Liv Morgan def. Sonya Deville in a No Disqualification MatchIt's nice to have a women's storyline that isn't over a championship. Yes, Morgan was just SmackDown Women's Champion, but it doesn't appear as if she's headed back for the belt anytime soon. Despite the crowd not being too lively throughout (and I can't blame them considering this was taped immediately after last week's SmackDown), this was a very good match with both women giving it a strong effort. I'm really curious where this new character for Morgan is headed. LA Knight def. RicochetI was looking forward to seeing how these two would match up, and sure enough, they had great chemistry. They wrestle two very different styles and that made for an entertaining affair. Knight winning was the only outcome that made sense, and him cheating to do so keeps their feud alive. They received an ample amount of time here, but I wouldn't mind them getting even more time in their inevitable rematch because it can be even better than this was. The Bloodline Attacked The Brawling Brutes and The New DayBrawling Brutes will challenge The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at Crown Jewel, so this was designed to serve as hype for that match. It was fairly basic stuff, but I liked how it also set the stage for New Day vs. Usos, presumably next week on SmackDown. That would be the perfect time to do that match since The Usos will break New Day's record as the longest-reigning tag team champs in WWE history next weekend if they can hold onto the gold until then. Shayna Baszler def. NatalyaBaszler and Natalya teamed briefly earlier this year, but it was such a short-lived alliance that I can't imagine many people remember that let alone care. That said, Baszler needed a notable name to beat as she begins to be rebuilt and Natalya fit the bill. It was an uneventful match, but it wasn't necessary for there to be anything flashy about it. Baszler won decisively and that's all that mattered. I really dig the pairing of her and Ronda Rousey. Braun Strowman Attacked MVPMVP said he was going to have five people (a.k.a. local losers) to face Strowman in a Handicap match, but Strowman destroyed them all on the ramp before the bout could happen. He proceeded to attack MVP, which was surprising because we haven't seen MVP take much offense this year. Does this mean MVP won't be in Omos' corner at Crown Jewel? I expect Strowman to win either way and hopefully put the rivalry to rest. Intercontinental Champion Gunther def. Rey MysterioGunther has had the perfect buildup as Intercontinental Champion over the last five months and it's going to be a big moment when he's eventually dethroned. The crowd knows that and that's key. Thankfully, tonight was not that night. Mysterio gave him a hell of a fight, though, and they had a terrific main event. Unless the crowd chants were piped in, they were into the action as well and that's impressive because this was a taped show. Gunther winning clean was a nice touch. Overall ShowThe fact this was a taped show didn't take away from my enjoyment of it much at all. They killed time with some Crown Jewel video packages (making up for Roman Reigns, Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre and Karrion Kross not appearing) and we were treated to some above-average action, specifically in the main event. The SmackDown World Cup kicking off next week should be interesting. Hopefully something will be at stake other than just a meaningless trophy.
