Josh Alexander def. Big KonThis was one of the longest opening segments I've seen on this show in a long time. It wasn't all bad by any means, but some of what happened lacked logic. Alexander kicked things off demanding his rightful rematch for the Impact World Championship only to get Konnor of The Ascension from WWE instead. The crowd was completely quiet for the dude as most people probably forgot he existed since he hasn't been on TV in almost three years. Alexander decimated him in about a minute as he should have. That brought out Scott D'Amore, who rambled on and on about why now wasn't the right time for him to invoke his rematch clause for the championship. D'Amore delivers his lines well, but I feel like we see and hear from him far too much than we should. That's been an issue with this show for about a year and a half. Alexander's "suspension" led to him being removed from Team IMPACT at No Surrender, but I'm not sure why D'Amore wouldn't have promised him his rematch until after the event. They're likely holding off on doing Alexander vs. Moose until Rebellion or maybe even Slammiversary, but I wish they explained it a bit better. ROH Women's World Champion and AAA Reina de Reinas Champion Deonna Purrazzo def. Santana Garrett (AAA Reina de Reinas Championship Was Not Defended)For the record, Purrazzo has been the AAA Reina de Reinas Champion for quite a while now, but I never recognized her as such in my reviews prior to this point because she didn't start coming out with the title belt until recently. This was an open challenge for the ROH Women's World Championship and it made sense for Garrett to accept it because she's from the area and is a known name. They had a pretty good match, even though the finish didn't come off the best. I'm still stunned Garrett hasn't been able to stick in any one promotion. She's very talented, but she can never stay in one place and get a proper push for some reason. Chelsea Green def. Impact Knockouts World Champion Mickie James by Disqualification (Non-Title)Green has been acting awfully "fan-girly" for James in recent weeks, which makes me think that a heel turn from her is coming sooner or later. Isn't that the story they wanted to tell in WWE but never got the chance? I'm sure Green would love to bring back her "Hot Mess" persona to IMPACT even though I've never been a fan of it. It was a solid match up until Tasha Steelz' interference to build toward James vs. Steelz at No Surrender. I was fine with the non-finish because I'm sure this will be revisited eventually. Bullet Club Exchanged Words with Violent By Design and Impact World Tag Team Champions The Good BrothersThere's likely a lot of people who couldn't care less about the Bullet Club drama because, as Eric Young mentioned, they haven't been a super hot stable in several years. However, I am curious to see where it will lead. Both factions had some great lines and the crowd was into the exchange. This left me looking forward to next week's six-man tag team match as well as Jay White vs. Young at No Surrender. I'm happy to see White making the rounds right now between IMPACT and AEW after being left off Wrestle Kingdom 16. Honor No More (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett) def. Rich Swann and RhinoRegardless of whether they're going as The Kingdom, The OGK or Honor No More, Taven and Bennett are a terrific tag team. The Impact World Tag Team Championship is being completely wasted at the moment with Good Brothers, so I'd like to see them eventually may their way to Taven and Bennett. This was a fun matchup with all four guys working well together and playing their roles well. Honor No More winning was the right call coming off Vincent's loss last week. Next week, Chris Sabin will face Kenny King ahead of No Surrender. W. Morrissey def. Brian Myers in a No Disqualification MatchMorrissey has been beating the hell out of The Learning Tree for weeks, but I honestly didn't expect it to lead to Morrissey and Brian Myers facing off in a No Disqualification match considering they're both heels along with Moose. I have no idea who fans are supposed to be rooting for in this whole thing, but what I do know is that this was a very entertaining main event that exceeded my expectations. I fully expected it to be a straightforward squash, but Myers put up a hell of a fight in defeat and they made excellent use of the stipulation. I can understand people not wanting this to be competitive since Morrissey will be challenging for the Impact World Championship next weekend, but it was laid out wonderfully where both him and Myers came away from it looking better. Moose's post-match attack on Morrissey was also well done. Overall ShowIMPACT has been killing it since their last live special and the build to No Surrender has been strong. They have one more show to go until the event, but I'm already sold. The Team IMPACT vs. Honor No More storyline has been a blast to follow and they've even managed to handle the heel vs. heel world title program perfectly. Throw in solid storylines with the women's division, Matt Cardona's heel turn and Bullet Club coming in and you've got a pretty well-rounded product at the moment. I can't stress this enough, but stop sleeping on IMPACT. These weekly shows are more consistent than almost any other in wrestling these days.
