Fenix def. Trios Champion Pindar in a Cueto Cup Quarterfinal Match

I liked the story that was told here with it being mentioned by the commentators that it was Pindar and his group that took the Trios Championship from Fenix, Drago and Aerostar a few months back, along with how Fenix is still trying to impress ring announcer Melissa Santos. The distinct size difference made the match more entertaining with the two creating a good chemistry together. Of course, Fenix was an easy choice to advance in the tournament.

Prince Puma def. Dante Fox in a Cueto Cup Quarterfinal MAtch

Fox might be the biggest MVP of the Cueto Cup when you consider the stellar showings he's had in each of his outings up to this point. This match with Puma was no exception as they went all out in producing an exhilarating affair where there never seemed to be a dull moment. Every second of this was fantastic and I almost didn't want it to end as a result. Despite his loss to Puma here, Fox's feud with Killshot will continue based off what happened afterward.

Lucha Underground Champion Johnny Mundo def. El Dragon Azteca Jr. (Non-title)

This was the perfect set-up for Mundo's upcoming title defense against Rey Mysterio considering Azteca is Mysterio's protege. It was a pretty fun match on the whole from an in-ring standpoint, but the best part of all was that there wasn't any interference from The Worldwide Underground. That has been such a staple of these Mundo matches that it has become an annoyance, but it was cool they held off until afterward when they attacked Mysterio's family (longtime WWE fans may remember Dominic from the Eddie Guerrero angle in 2005). Mysterio and Mundo continue to find new ways to get viewers more and more excited for their title match.

Overall Show

As the Cueto Cup comes to a close, the matches are heating up and are getting better and better by the week. This was an above-average edition of Lucha Underground with Fenix and Pindar kicking off the night on a nice note, Mysterio vs. Mundo being effectively furthered, and Puma vs. Fox contesting an incredible match. Seriously, seek that out when you have the chance because it is the epitome of what Lucha Underground is all about at its core.
