Lucha Underground Champion Pentagon Dark Won Aztec WarfareBefore the bout, Antonio Cueto was revealed to be the new authority figure of Lucha Underground following the death of Dario (his son) at the end of last season. He interrupted Dario's 10 bell salute and announced an immediate Aztec Warfare match for the Lucha Underground Championship, also making Son of Havoc one-third of the Trios Champions alongside Killshot and The Mack because Dante Fox was "missing in action." While this wasn't the best Aztec Warfare matchup of the few that have been held over the years, it was still very entertaining and filled with surprises including Mr. Pectacular (Jessie Godderz), Tommy Dreamer, the returning Hernandez and others. Some of the eliminations were a bit rushed, and what hurt this Aztec Warfare was that there weren't a ton of stories to play off of, but the crowd ate it up all the same. Most importantly, Pentagon was made to look like a super strong champion by surviving the entire Aztec Warfare and retaining his title. Overall ShowYes, this is a slightly different Temple than what we're used to, but aside from the bright colors, it's largely similar to the old one in Boyle Heights. Aztec Warfare kicked off the season with a bang, even though that's something that is usually built to, and it reminded me why I missed this show so much in its absence. A number of new feuds were born in the bout and we also know that next week, Matanza Cueto will return to contend for the Lucha Underground Championship. The Antonio Cueto character has the potential to be as brilliant as Dario was, so I have high hopes for this fourth season.
