Aerostar def. Drago in Match No. 3 of in the Best of 5 Series

I've been really enjoying the ongoing series of matches between Aerostar and Drago and this was no exception. They're the perfect competitors to put on a highly electric match to kick off the show and they have a lot of good chemistry together. The match consisted more of high spots than it did an actual story, but I've been enjoying the in-ring action they've been providing so I can't complain.

Big Ryck def. The Crew in a No Disqualification 3-on-1 Handicap Elimination Match

They've done a superb job of building this match up to mean something whereas it would have felt like any other match a month ago. Although Ryck has a distinct size advantage over the trio, The Crew played the numbers game well and made it feel like Ryck had to overcome the odds. The elimination stipulation also added to it and dragged out the match a little longer. Since there were no disqualifications, it would've made sense for the eliminated members of The Crew to come back out and get involved, but that's just a small nitpick. Both Sexy Star and Ryck were able to get their revenge against The Crew at the end, so I'm curious as to whether if this is the end of the feud or if it'll continue.

Fenix def. Mil Muertes in a Grave Consequences Match

The best part about Lucha Underground, in my opinion, is that as great as their wrestling is, their stories are equally excellent. Muertes and Fenix have had a feud worthy of this kind of match and it exceeded my expectations. Casket matches in wrestling can usually be campy, but they took the fight all around the arena. The blood from Fenix was an awesome visual and he definitely came across as the babyface in peril with all the offense he took at the hands of Muertes. Catrina played her role well at ringside throughout and it was fitting that she was the one to close the casket lid on Muertes. I hope this isn't the end of the Muertes character, but I wouldn't mind if he was written off for a while to sell the stipulation.

Overall Show

While Lucha Underground is always enjoyable, this was one the all around stronger episodes in recent memory. The third match in the Best of Five series was quite fun, the Handicap match succeeded in telling a solid story, and the main event was a mix of both and then some. All three matches and delivered in a big way, and next week's episode will only get bigger with not one but two title matches. Definitely take an hour out of your day to check out this show and I'm already anticipating next week's heavily hyped edition.
