Dante Fox def. TexanoIt's been well-documented that Texano has rarely ever done anything for me, and I could've sworn he turned heel at one point in the last few months, but this was an enjoyable outing from him and Fox. Fox is one of the most incredible athletes Lucha Underground has on its roster and he shines in these opening matches. Famous B costing Texano the match made sense from a storyline standpoint, but it was a lousy finish. If nothing else, it set up Famous B vs. Texano at Ultima Lucha 3. Marty "The Moth" Martinez and Mariposa def. Fenix and Melissa SantosI don't know how long Santos has been training in the ring, assuming she has been training at all, but she looked a lot better in this bout than I thought she would. Granted, perhaps that's the magic of editing and post-production along with how she wasn't in the ring for too long, but she didn't embarrass herself (not to mention she looked smoking in that attire she was wearing). The heels won as they should have, but I loved the closing moments with Martinez and Mariposa double-teaming her (does that sound wrong?) while Fenix was forced to look on. It made you want to see Fenix beat their asses that much more. Pentagon Dark vs. Paul London vs. Mala Suerte vs. Saltador vs. Cortez Castro vs. Trios Champion Drago vs. Son of Havoc in a Gift of the Gods Championship 7-Way Match Ended in a DrawWith this being such a random assortment of wrestlers, I wasn't surprised that there was no singular story told throughout the bout, but that's the beauty of these Gift of the Gods Championship matches: they're all-action and the pace is frantic and exciting. Everyone played their roles well and I didn't mind it ending in a draw between Pentagon and Havoc. It's cool that they'll get a match of their own at Ultima Lucha 3 (in a Ladder match, no less) and won't be overshadowed with so many other matches on the card. Overall ShowThis was technically the go-home show for Ultima Lucha 3, which kicks off next week, and it was certainly successful in getting me amped up for the event. They ran down the card for their biggest show of the season before the main event, but even from an in-ring standpoint, this was an excellent edition of Lucha Underground with three very entertaining matchups. All four upcoming episodes of Ultima Lucha 3 look to be the most stacked installment yet, and while nothing is known about a possible fourth season, it's fitting that the series would be ending on a high note.
