Matanza Cueto def. Joey WrestlingAlthough the man better known as Joey Mercury isn't technically under contract to Lucha Underground (according to Matt Striker), he demanded a fight against Matanza after he crashed his best friend's wedding last week. This was a much more competitive contest than I expected and lasted longer than any other Matanza match in recent memory, yet still ended the same way with Matanza going over in decisive fashion. Killshot def. Big Bad SteveWe haven't seen Steve since Jake Strong disposed of him a few months ago. He looks like an Authors of Pain knockoff and is barely above average in the ring, but he held his own here against Killshot. Quite honestly, I figured this would be a quick showcase for Killshot and nothing more, but it ended up going a few more minutes than I thought. Ultimately, it was merely a backdrop for Killshot and Son of Havoc, who watched from the crowd, to further their feud, and their post-match brawl was well done. Lucha Underground Champion Pentagon Dark def. HernandezHernandez was the last person I expected to answer Pentagon's open challenge, but it did make sense since Pentagon broke his arm during Aztec Warfare at the start of the season. You had to know Hernandez wasn't winning the belt, but this was a nice little match for what it was where the crowd was engaged in the action. Before Pentagon could break Hernandez's arm again afterward, King Cuerno attacked Pentagon and hit him with his own title, seemingly setting that up as the latest championship program. It's totally logical, too, since Cuerno helped Cage beat Pentagon in a Handicap match about a month ago, so I was happy they wasted no time in revealing Pentagon's next rival. Overall ShowNothing was advertised in advance for this edition of Lucha Underground, so I had a feeling coming in that it wouldn't be too newsworthy of a night. Despite that, it was an enjoyable hour of wrestling with Pentagon successfully defending his title and finding out who his next challenger is, Fenix being brought back from the dead through time travel in the opening vignette (yes seriously), Joey Wrestling getting killed off by Matanza, and Killshot and Havoc progressing their storyline.
